In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2024 Telluride Recall -- ENGINE REPLACEMENT !!

Just got my truck out of the shop. The repair only took 2 days and everything went great. It doesn’t even seem like my vehicle was in for any repairs. I was nervous for no reason. My experience was great I still have a week and a half left before they tell me whether or not they will give me a new vehicle. So one last update, and I hope all of you have the same success I did!

Mine is in the shop now for the recall and Kia paid for my rental. Very smooth process. The ordered my parts 10 days later it came in dropped it off yesterday. While the repair is being performed, Kia Customer Care is working on whether or not they giving me a replacement new vehicle seeing that my truck is only 4 months old. But what you need to do is check the build date on the sticker on the drivers side door. 10/24 - 12/24 are the recall dates. If it’s before or after your fine. I have not experienced the horror stories of some customers. I do believe it’s a dealership problem. I’ll have my answer on the new vehicle in 2 weeks Kia Customer Care said. Will be posting an update.
Final post so Kia called back today and said that my truck wasn’t old enough for the buy back program. In Texas your vehicle has to be 12 months or 24,000 miles to be eligible. I haven’t had a single problem with my truck before the engine swap and none since! Good luck guys!

A lot of manufacturers having issues with their V6s - Toyota with its TTV6 throwing rods and Honda with its grenading V6.

Let's hope the 3.5L avoids those kind of issues.

So I know I said last post but Kia Customer Care reached back out to me and offered me a good will gesture and is sending 2 months worth of truck note money. They asked to see my sales contract with the monthly payment amount and are sending me that much money to my bank account. So new motor, and 2 months on them!! Works for me! Again good luck guys!!

This morning I get an email saying there is a recall for my 2024 KIA Telluride.
Called KIA customer care and they tell me its "engine related" and recalls are being sent out with repairs starting April 15. Curious, I call the dealer and speak with service. He looks up the recall and tells me that the entire engine and several other components need to be replaced. Evidently this affects every Telluride built in Sept - Nov 2023. The root cause is faulty manufacturing parts from suppliers.

After hearing that, I call Kia Customer Care, call them on their bull and say I want a New Telluride versus having all that work done on a brand new 4 month old vehicle with 700 miles. She immediately transferred me to "expedited care" and I was given a case # and will be assigned a customer care rep in 5 days.

I'm sure you all agree having that amount of work done on a brand new vehicle is ridiculous. I'm going to fight this as much as i can. Maybe even lawyer up.
It gets even worse. The dealer cannot even start ordering parts until the Telluride is physically on their property and they will not give me a loaner since it will likely take weeks or even months to get everything in. Kia customer care told me I can pay for a rental and submit a "request" to have that repaid. Nope. I will get it in writing for rental.

This should be in the news soon. I've never heard of something so ridiculous.
Going to start drinking early today!

Grrrrrrrrrrrr.......................
Same EXACT thing here with my 2024 Telluride. To a T! Got to have it there before they’ll order parts, they’ll have it for a month or longer, no loaner vehicle and all of that! I’m TICKED!!! I also want a brand new car! Why would I want someone tearing apart my brand new car?!?!?!? What’s the verdict on your case? I’m not settling for this BS!

Update on this disaster:
I got a call from my SA this morning. He said KIA is now allowing Service Centers to place "placement" orders for new engines sent to Dealerships. He told me he could place the order and I would be the 35th person to get a new engine. I said no, as I dont want to be the first guinea pig in their shop.
The other problem is they are extremely backlogged and have no estimate of delivery to the 2,900 vehicles expected. This sounds like a disaster in the making. My theory is the NTSB is going to step in and issue us all a full refund. The fact KIA is not telling us all to stop driving a vehicle who's engine could explode at any moment and possibly injure or kill people, is ridiculous.
Gladesteen, I have an IDENTICAL situation to yours. To a T! Have you found out anything further? I am in the same boat as you. Why would I want a brand new car that had been taken completely apart and reassembled? No way! I am furious to say the least!

3.5L has not been confirmed yet for 2025?

Our telluride has been in the shop for over 4 months. We get bounced around from one department to the next. At each contact they say they need 2-3 weeks to get back to us with an update. Then we don’t hear back after 3 weeks and have to follow up again —— and we are back to square 1.

These are major safety concerns for a family car- or any car at that Mater and at this point we have zero trust and confidence in Kia.

The only thing they keep telling us is that they are going to out in a new engine. We don’t want a new engine. We leased a a new car with an original engine which by the way the dealer ended up adding an extra 12k to the sticker price for some reason.

Why should we keep paying our lease when we don’t even have the car we are paying for.

At this point we just want out of the lease and reimbursed for our down payment, registration , and all associated fees and monthly payments

Over 90 days in the garage- it’s a lemon!!!!

Nothing official, but there have been internal docs citing the 3.5T, 2.5T HEV and another hybrid (likely the new PHEV powertrain that's headed first to the Santa Fe) from over a year ago.

Btw, Toyota is replacing the engine in nearly 103k Tundras and LX's.

Yes, Toyota did not mess around. They committed to replacing all suspect engines for their customers. Unlike Kia where owners have to go through a consumption test and prove that they changed the oil regularly. That’s what I had to do to get my engine replaced at 38k miles when it started consuming over one quart of oil per 1000 miles and rattled like crazy. I’d rather a car company admit that there is a problem and commit to fixing it. It takes the stress and hassle out of ownership knowing that the company stands by the product.

^^^this exactly...my parents had a tacoma that went through the frame recall process...150% kelly blue book value in excellent condition on a 1998 with 160k miles was $8,434.50...they used the money as a partial down payment on a used 2015 tacoma...none of this hassling...brought it in for an inspection...failed inspection (which i knew since i could put my hand into a hole in the frame)...paperwork and payment...kia just makes junk engines

No it sounds like this may be a 2026 engine along with a 4 cylinder Turbo. 2025 sounds like it will be the sam 3.8 GDI :(

Anyone successfully get thier engine replaced and Telluride back? Did they credit you for the time it was in their custody/waiting repair?

Well, it took them 2 years since they first were aware of the issue and it isn't really like they had a choice if the problem is indeed due to a manufacturing defect resulting in engine debris (the same reason Kia had to recall and replace it's Theta 2.0L and 2.4L engines).

Early owners of the LS500 have had problems with its TTV6 throwing rods, but Toyota would fix and not replace the engine.

Which led to unhappy owners when the "fixed" engine would go on to have the same problem.

So we all agree that manufacturers should issue recalls and replace defective parts quickly and with transparency instead of making customers jump through hoops and hoping that warranty periods expire first!
