• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My 22 EX Telly threw code P0087 2 weeks ago and keeps coming back after clearing. I have ran the fuel tank almost empty and refilled with premium hoping a bad batch caused it but so far no joy. I am a good driveway mechanic but have no idea where the exhaust solenoid is to even check for broken wires.Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated.

S I found the problem and am putting it in here for others to find with similar code/issues. It seems like a rodent or something crawled up in there because the wires were mangled and there is a pile of the foam that was covering something under the engine bonnet. Since I don't know what the sensor is called or where to buy it yet I went ahead and soldered a wire to repair the damage and wrapped it until I can source the part. If you know what it is please feel free to let me know. Engine exhaust solenoid is my best guess as of right now. Shouldn't be too expensive since I do not see it being covered under the warrantee. Score one for the (under) hood rats!

A friend of ours had her Tundra wiring chewed on by rodents and it was a lengthy expensive repair, fortunately insurance covered it.
It wasn't a daily driver and would sit unused for a week or two allowing the mice to set up residence and feast on the vegetable based wiring insulation, supposedly manufacturers are addressing using tasty licorice for wire insulation.
Glad you found the issue on your own and shared, could be quite expensive for a dealer repair.

Congrats on the diagnosis and repair. But if the repair is solid, why go chasing a replacement part?

It is the wifes car and we keep ours for 20 yrs regularly. Where we see a solid repair she sees duct tape and bubble gum.
