• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Greetings,

I have a 2020 Telluride with 61,000+ miles. The A/C compressor just failed and needs replacement. Is this unusually premature for that to happen? It is not covered by warranty of course. Just had to replace rear shocks a month ago that I also thought was a little soon.

Sux, Tell me do you know the full reason/cause of the failure?
Or is is just shoot the rabbit with a cannon?

If the internals went bad, beware of "black death" and/or debris contamination.

The failure was described as a "compressor clutch" going bad. Much of the vehicle's usage had been on dirt, muddy, frozen or hot and humid roads and harsh conditions. That's just where we live! Could that add to the problem?

Could it... well yes.
Albeit there's a lower splash pan and these things are designed to take a fair bit of normal moisture bereft of problems.

I guess there's NOT a new compressor clutch option of repair?
I rescind the question. I'm OLD SCHOOL. NOTHING is repairable anymore. Just replace the whole assembly.
Back in the day...

I digress.
