Aftermarket Fog/Driving Light mounting options

I finally finished installing my aftermarket fog lights; I did not run any cable to the cabin since did not want to mess up with the firewall so I decided to tap on the low beam light to control the relay on the fog light harness just as other users have done; It took some time and modifications to the brackets that came with the lights but I believe the end result is pretty good considering I did not spend a ton of money on this mod.

LED fog and LED light bar done. I do apologize now but I completely spaced on taking pictures along the way. Everything said and done about 4hrs wiring and mounting. If anybody has any question please ask and I will try to explain on what I did to mount and wire.
The 30" light bar that you installed is that a straightenant or curved and is it a single row or double ?

Thanks

That looks great. What brand lights did you use? And are they always on when the low beams are on?

I got them from Amazon, this is the description:

Nilight 40001F-B Bar Super Slim 2PCS 7Inch 30W Flood Driving Fog 3600LM Single Row Off Road led Lights for Jeep-2 Style Mounting Brackets, 2 Years Warranty

And Yes, they turn always on when the low beams are on.

Makes absolutely sense. I didn’t want to drill any holes too but I did manage to find a few spots where you can run the cable without having to drill just takes longer. I opted though so I used the same method as another user here and did make a small hole to run the wires into the interior. But it’s definitely not noticeable. I mounted the switch to the fuse cover that way if I ever have to remove it or anything I just need to buy a new fuse cover that’s all. Didn’t feel like making a hole anywhere else where it could cost me more money in the long run. Here is a picture of where I ran the cable through kinda hard to see you would have to zoom into the picture but it’s the white connectorView attachment 23928
If you get the OEM kit you don’t need to drill hole through the firewall, it is a wireless connection. You will have to drill a 1” hole in your dash for the light switch.

Wireless? Do you have a picture of the button, I'm intrigued.

The transmitter is spliced into 2 wires near the factory fuse panel under the dash. The transmitter is mounted zip tied under dash as well. The receiver is zip tied on one of the frame rails behind the bumper two connections are to a ground in the engine compartment by the passenger fender and +12v inside the fuse box under the hood.
You have to remove several pieces of the dash on the drivers side to do all this.

I've seen this picture, it looks sharp, but I meant any pictures of the back side of the button and the receiver on the light kit. I'm confused as to how it's wireless. Where does it get power, is there a battery?
Sorry those are buried behind the dash and bumper. Think of it as a wireless relay. The switch and transmitter get power inside the cabin from splicing into a factory wiring harness. The lights and receiver get power from the fuse box in the engine compartment. I took pictures of the installation manual if that helps...

Thanks for posting this! It’s definitely going to help others. Did you install it yourself or had the dealer do it? If you did it yourself. You wouldn’t happen to have pictures of all the parts that came with the kit would you?

Did it myself. Sorry, didn't take any pictures. I am pretty mechanically inclined but tearing the dash and front bumper off a brand new car is a bit intimidating.
No real issues other then trying to understand where they wanted you to zip strip the transmitter under the dash the illustration in the instructions wasn't very helpful. Ultimately I don't think it matters much.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I ran a wire through the firewall boot on my DIY install but if I had seen this I might have tried it.

Thank you so much again! If someone else does install this kit please post some pictures before installing. I would like to see everything.

In the post Retrofitting factory fog lamps, the original author was planning to use an SX multifunction switch to operate fog lights he had purchased. He had researched the wiring from the IBU to the fuse box and had wiring diagrams along with pictures of where the connections were in the fuse box. Unfortunately, he never posted that he had successfully completed the process to make the multifunction switch control the fog lights.

I followed the steps he outlined, but I'm not able to get the fog light switch to turn on the fog lights (I used a circuit tester, and there is no output from 8 or 19 in the ICU junction box). Has anyone been able to add a factory SX multifunction switch and have it turn on fog lights that were installed on a non-SX trim Telluride?

Started the eBay OEM like fog light and fog light grille install today. But I’m stumped and hoping someone has a trick for me.

Removing the front fascia was not hard. I followed the instructions on the YouTube video:
I just needed an 8mm, 10mm and a small flat screw driver.

So now that I have the front fascia off I’m trying to figure out how to remove the “tongue and groove” parts without breaking anything. Any ideas???? Anyone have any tricks or online resources?
Sorry to relive this thread but when you were popping the front facial off was it easier to remove the clips for the sensors I was thinking of putting a light bulb on top but possibly behind define this and attaching it to the crash guard will be my objective.

@Socal949 for the switch I did not want to drill any holes in the interior. What I did was I tapped low beam wire from the headlight for the fogs and high beam for the light bar. Yes I did want to be able to power them on/off independently but I did want to make any holes and run any wires into the cabin of the car. I didn't want to figure out how to wire into the factory fog light switch either. I can't even find the factory switch for sell
Hi, do you have a diagram for what cable did you tapped to get the signal to turn on the led bar? Thanks!

I finally bought the kit and have been slightly disappointed. I had a shop install them for me but the way they did it, they’re always on when the car is on when I specifically wanted them to only come on when the headlights come on. And to top it off the LEDs aren’t that bright. Does anyone know how I can wire it to come on with the headlights (currently jumped to the third ECU fuse on the far right from the bottom) or know what bulb it uses so I could swap for brighter ones?

LED fog and LED light bar done. I do apologize now but I completely spaced on taking pictures along the way. Everything said and done about 4hrs wiring and mounting. If anybody has any question please ask and I will try to explain on what I did to mount and wire.
Did you use the factory fog lights, or some aftermarket ones?
