In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... nope I still get great mileage... speedo might be off 1% at the most.. the power picks up and goes, I get tested everyday by different cars... the handling is great thinking about maybe a 1.3 inch drop..

Are there drop kits or springs out yet? Or ya just gonna cut the stock springs? Looks good, could use a slight drop yea 👍

Put my winter wheels/tires today. 20 x 8.5 +40 offset. Fun to go silver/tungsten on my SX/P. Every six months get to switch up the look. View attachment 12390
This looks amazing! If you don't mind sharing, what wheels are those?

Why not? 🙃
Air would be nice, just haven't seen anything for lowering yet, just a 2" lift kit. Other things are coming out now like intakes and exhaust so I'm sure someone will bring lowering products to market soon for those who won't be going off road

I think you'd need to make a number of changes to ensure no rubbing on the outside edges under high load.

I went outside just now and put the Telly up on one ramp in the back, to get compression on two opposite corners. The ramp isn't quite tall enough to drive compression to the point of touching, but this is providing some good data. Here are some photos, and explanation of what I'm seeing.

Looking at the driver side rear. I put a tape measure in on top of the wheel and placed the end of it right at the point in the wheel well where the inner plastic starts to ramp up the ~2" extra clearance. Looking straight down from above (sorry the photo doesn't do a good job of this), there is almost 1" to the outside edge of the tire. So, in order to tuck into the wheel well the outside edge of the rear tire needs to be 1" inboard:

Moving up front to the passenger side front. The methodology was the same - find the inner wheel well recessed point, measure from there out to the outside edge of the tire. Up front the tires stick outboard by a little more than 1 1/4" inches. The photo does not do the measurement justice, since I didn't the photo straight above. But the measurement showed that the outside edge of the tire would need to be 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" inboard in order to tuck under and in to the wheel well recessed section.

I then cranked the steering wheel hard over and took a look at the gap between the inside tire wall and the strut. In here there is about 1 1/4" of gap, so could comfortable go Inboard 1" with the tire wall. It doesn't appear it would rub anywhere doing this, but hard to say if perhaps on full lock the opposite direction it might up front.

So, in terms of your question about being able to fit by going down to 55 height, no, this alone won't get them to fit in the wheel well entirely. I think you'd need to reduce the width as well. Another option is the 2" truxx lift, which others have done and like. (I'm considering it).
I'm new here so I apologize if you've posted this before but I like those wheels and tires. What are they?

Added to your signature! Very good idea.

I finally got my wheels and tires put on. I went with:

Vertini VS07 20x8.5 +38
Toyo Proxes ST (1st gen) 275/45/20

The wheels weighed 20 lbs each and the tires weighed 35 lbs. for a total of 55 lbs. The stock wheel/tire weighed 65 lbs. 20201211_075341.webp20201211_105400.webp20201211_095413.webp20201211_105410.webp20201211_110059.webp20201211_105500.webp

If you had gone with 285/45/20, would that fit on your 20/8.5 rim? If so would it rub?...........I'm asking cause i'm considering a 20x10 wheel with 285/45/20

It would be close. These barely make a mark on the wheel well liner at full lock.

You can look at the tire manufacturer website for the recommended rim width for that size tire

Any reason for not using the OEM tire? I guess you're looking for a beefier tire for better visual appearance?

This looks absolutely fantastic, btw. Curious how this would look on a white excited exterior.
