  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Does anyone know if dealers receive a certain number of allocations only, or are allocations divided up as a certain number by trim level, or a certain number by drive train, or by color?

the SX FWD doesn’t show up on failcat in large quantities. It could be because less allocations are given for it OR it could just be less people order it therefore they build less. Which comes first? The chicken or the egg?

Kia will build whatever people will buy, so the chicken(?) comes first. Demand drives their monthly allocation planning. Of course, since most people order SX/SXP, any other trim has a chance to be made quicker. Same for AWD/FWD split, FWD will come out sooner most times. But it's all based on overall demand - that's why if you check failcat, more than 50% of vehicles are SX.

That being said, I wouldn't configure your order based on saving a few weeks of waiting time. You will immediately regret it - I know a few folks around here who have done that and probably wish they'd just waited a bit longer.

That’s a good explanation. Thank you!

Kia dealer allocations are for a specific trim level. If I have 5 dealer requests in for EX models, and I get 2 SX and 2 EX models w 1 LX only 2 of those EX models get pulled.

Thanks. That makes sense. I guess the dealers must have a wait list for each trim level. Does drive train matter too or just trim level?
