• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I just let go of a black on black SX because it was a 3 hour drive away and they didn’t want to handle the deal over the phone. I could have left work early to make the drive but chose to wait and see if it lasted until tomorrow morning. It did not last and they wanted $2k over msrp for paint protection. Am I crazy?! I have 3 months before I need a new car and I’m still holding out hope that I can get my hands on that unicorn black with dune brow prestige by the end of August.

You’re not crazy. I may pay MSRP or a little over, but it’ll be a cold day in hell when I pay for paint protection, or any other dealer scam/non-removable nonsense add ons.

I let a black copper sx go because I didn’t want another black car. Now I have a chance to get a white sx prestige with dune interior but they tell me it’s gonna be over msrp. Ugh! I don’t know if I should wait this out or not. I do know I will be first in line for the Hyundai palisade to check it out

If that’s what you want, take it! As long as the over MSRP isn’t something crazy...

I understand, had it been the dune you would have left work early. We all want one but you have to be passionate about your choice and you would probably always have a little nag in your heart that you didn't wait for the interior that you wanted.
I am torn waiting on my Silver with black interior, I really love the gray interior, it is not available on the silver, so I am going to settle but different situation.

Don't pay over MSRP thats just silly I got a gravity Grey SXP with towing, mud guards, floor mats, folding cargo mat roof racks MSRP 48,200 ish I paid 45,500 out the door including doc fees tags taxes etc. You can deal just make sure you involve multiple dealers and work them.

The only crazy part of that is wanting 2K over MSRP. the deal over the phone and a three hour drive is not a big deal if you want the car. The question is would you have done it if it were MSRP.

I would have passed as well but only because I'm not willing to pay over MSRP for any vehicle. Tell that dealer you will protect your own paint

Does that white SX with dune Brown happen to be at friendly Kia just north of Beaumont Texas? they have two white pearl with dune Brown in their inventory but when I told them I would not pay over MSRP they never called me back

You got a great price! Congrats

When and where did you get this price?

Coming from someone who flew out of state and drove the new car back 14hrs for MSRP - rebates and would do it again....if you can wait, wait. I couldn't so didn't.

I would’ve done that in a heartbeat too. I can’t even count how many dealers I contacted thinking I would do just that when I found the right price. Luckily for me, my local dealer gave me the best price I found

You did the right thing. This ridiculous price gouging will die down before long. And not to say I wouldn't do the same, if I were a dealer. It's all about supply and demand, I get it, but this won't be a thing forever. When the Chrysler PT Cruiser first came out, dealers were marking them $5,000 over sticker too...

I am not qualified to determine if you are crazy, lol.

The manufacturer and/or dealer does not determine what a vehicle is worth. Only the buyer does that.

The price is right only when you decide it is.

I may have a lockdown on the prestige I have been searching for, though it's a little over MSRP. I think I am going to pull the trigger. I really want a prestige and don't think I will be able to secure one this year if I pass it up now. They seem to be becoming more and more rare.

Life is so stinking short and money has no value to you once your time is up. You found it, buy it! Don't let another bidder get your Telluride! SWEET!

Over MSRP after rebates would be tough.

If you are able to wait until the fall, I think you'll be in a very good spot. My worst case projection is later summer/early fall to be able to order again, winter delivery. Costo program will be in full swing, Palisade will be done with their initial rush, I'd expect to pay 4k under MSRP in fall.

All that being said, only you know whats right for you.

I wish nothing but the best for you and hope you get the deal, but I don’t expect this craziness to die down/supply to pick up until next year. I don’t see much changing through fall

Unfortunately, I have a BMW lease I'm going to roll into the dealership and run away as fast as I can! I might not even stop the car before I get out.
