• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Android Auto

I believe this is a case where KIA did not program the unit in the Telluride to operate at a widescreen resolution for Android Auto, partly since Android auto did not support widescreen at the time the Telluride was released. It clearly is now and Kia would just need an update to make it work. I'm slightly bothered by the fact that I can't utilize the entire screen when using Android Auto but honestly, Android Auto sucks so bad and is so buggy that I don't use it all that much anymore.
None of the manufacturers were ready when Google updated the Android Auto to have widescreen capabilities. Same issue was with Mercedes Benz and not sure if they have fixed it.

What phone are you using? And the cable you are using, is it an original branded cable?

hmm, I have no problems with AA and use it every day, cable or phone? I have an S8 and it works great.
Same here, I have an S8 connected. It's not my main phone. It works great with Android Auto.

So I just got the 2021 Telluride Sx Nightfall edition. Same issue with AA not using widescreen. They didn't fix it for the 2021, I can confirm this.

Funny seeing my wife's apple carplay display Google maps in widescreen.

I'd like the option of it just using one of the three tiles, so others are available

That's what I want. I'm fine it just being 2/3 of the screen, as that is comparable to the dimensions of the side-ways phone anyway, and works fine. But I see that other 1/3 just sitting over there with the stupid AndroidAuto logo, and think what a waste of screen-space. It could have one of the 3 default car-information panels you get on the native home-interface. It's too bad they couldn't figure out how to make that work.

Remember that as long as you have the latest map update, if you enable split screen in device settings under Android Auto, you can have the map/radio/compass/weather/etc displayed in that far right third of the screen instead of nothing.

Can You explain this in a bit more detail. Latest Map settings for the Telluride or within Android Auto on your phone and on which device do you then make the split screen settings in? If you are referring to the latest map settings for the Telluride, which is the latest version? Thanks!!

To figure out your Telluride’s software version, hit your setup button, then General.

These are my current software/map versions as of the most recent update. If you have a 2021, you probably have it. If you have a 2020 and haven’t updated, you would have to order the USB stick from mapnsoft.com.

Once you have the right software, go back into setup and choose device connections. Then select Android Auto and make sure you check split screen.

You’re now ready to go! Now plug in your phone. You can choose to display numerous things on that previously empty right third of the display. Enjoy!!

@bruesjoh04 i just picked up my 2021 yesterday and i cant seem to find the split screen option.

from the settings it says Map version NAM.12.47.44.510.205.3

on mapnsoft.com they dont have the 2021 telluride yet, but it says after update the map version should be NAM.13.41.41.XXX

are they really sending new cars out of the factory without the most recent updates? i even asked my sales person to make sure that there werent any recalls or software/map updates but my guess is he doesnt even know about this. I'm going to be super annoyed if i have to take a brand new car back to get the software updated...

Hmm, that is annoying. I assumed the 2021 models would certainly have the newest update since it was first made available at the end of April... but I guess not.

The new Map Update is Version 14 currently which gives you the Map Version NAM 13.41.42.660.202 that @bruesjoh04 posted the picture of above which gives you the Android Auto split screen option. The Map Version NAM 12.47.44 was the version I had in my 2020 Telluride SXP bought in January 2020 when I picked it up after the 5 month wait. You can go to the Mapnsoft website at 2020 Kia Telluride Map Update 142U5W and create an account and you can order the Version 14 map update for $25 plus shipping to update your UVO system to get the Android Auto split screen as i did put in a 2021 VIN number from the falicat spreadsheet and it did let me place the order for the Map update software in my cart for purchase 🙂. Still bad that a new 2021 car would not have the updated Map software and from what i have read here on the forum, a couple of people have taken their Tellurides into the dealership and they were unaware of the update and could not update the software so your best bet would be to order it for $25 plus shipping from the Mapnsoft website. Sorry again that Kia gave you the old Map software on the 2021 model.

thanks for the clarification -- it helps to know that i definitely have the old version.

one thing that i'm not sure i understand though: is mapnsoft part of KIA or a 3rd party company contracted with kia to manage their infotainment software or something else?

From the Mapnsoft website at Mapcare | Home page, it states they are the official navigation system provider for Hyundai and Kia Motors so I think they are a third party company that Kia, Hyundai, and Genesis are using for their navigation system and the updates for it.

Definitely annoying that the 2021 I just picked up as the old map. Has anyone done this map update? The instructions I read said you had to leave the car running for the hour it takes to do the update. SMH

More than a few with 2021 models have successfully done it. See the newer posts in this thread for more.

Go to update.kia.com to get the update.

Please do the quick update if you do it. If you don’t, don’t say I didn’t warn you. It should take 30 minutes or less.

How do you get all these choices? Only choice I have is the weather or the AA screen.

You just swipe up and down through them. You can customize what shows up there... to do that, go to Setup > Display > Split screen. There, you can check or uncheck things and reorder them to your liking.
