HAHA that wouldn't surprise me if they did something like that.. lolMaybe it’s a dealer add-on that is activated if you didn’t pay enough markup at purchase
Any updates? Curious what that alarm was/is.
No update yet. It will probably be next week before I have a chance to take it to the dealership. I will update on here once I find out whats going on.
It is definitely from the car. It happens every time we start the car as long as the car has been off for 20ish minutes or more. It doesnt matter if its me driving, or my wife driving. I sent a message to the dealership to see if they can tell me what it is.I’d be really surprised if it a warning tone from the car. I’ve never heard anything like that as part of a vehicle wanting system. I’m sure you tried already, but you should try to isolate the source of the noise. If you can find it , you’ll see what causing it.
Ok, so I have an update. It is a GPS tracker that was installed by the dealership. I bought my car from a dealership 120 miles away. I took it to my local dealership today and they were able to find the GPS. They were not allowed to remove it since it was installed by the other dealership. I have a call into the dealership I purchased it and am waiting for them to call me back. I will let you guys know once I hear back.
Yeah it was hardwired. I would have never known it was there.Good they found it! Must have driven you crazy. I figured it was something like that, but it was hardwired, not on the OBD port?
Get it removed. “GPS”-I wouldn’t feel comfortable even if it’s disabled.I was able to talk to the dealership I purchased it from and he disabled it in 4 seconds. All is good now!
I totally agree with you. What I‘ve noticed with higher end cars these days is, the majority of them are LoJacked at the dealership before you even drive it off the lot. It started off as a big thing with buy here pay here cars. They specifically used it for reasons of default to have the ability to find the car anywhere. Regular dealers started using LoJack years back. I’m not sure if it’s based on a requirement from the banks that their using to finance these cars or not or if it’s part of a dealer add-on hidden by fees. Just know it’s not free and you probably paid for it in the price of the car. However, to not inform the customer of it being there in the first place speaks volumes. Quiet frankly if this didn’t happen the customer would’ve never known it was there to begin with.Get it removed. “GPS”-I wouldn’t feel comfortable even if it’s disabled.
Or you could just leave it on there. Think of it as a free LoJack add-on.Get it removed. “GPS”-I wouldn’t feel comfortable even if it’s disabled.
Yeah, they said they deactivated them, but I really want to have it removed! You are right, if it wasn’t for this annoying alarm, I would have never known it was there.I totally agree with you.
