Any Dealers in Massachusetts taking 2021 Telluride orders at MSRP with not Market Demand Mark-up?

Based on my understanding of how it works from the other threads on the forum, I think that's how it works everywhere. Your order goes into KDealer first, and then based on the number of allocations the dealer is given by Kia for a particular trim in a particular month, the dealer will enter those orders from KDealer into KFOS in the order in which they were received. So theoretically if I am 5th in line when my order goes into Kdealer in early July, but the dealer gets 2 EX AWDs allocations for each of July and August, my order would not go into KFOS until the September allocation.

I went with Lev partly because of the positive feedback on Ken, and partly because they are 2nd or 3rd in MA in terms of Telluride volume. You could be first in line at a small dealer, but if they are very low volume, they might not get an allocation from Kia in your selected trim.

I could be wrong on the above, and am quite sure that if I am, someone from this forum will correct me :)
That does sound about right. Thanks for the reminder :)
I’m likely going to go the EX-P AWD route as well. I’m assuming the experience at Lev has been good so far?

Can't complain so far. I would like to know what my place is for my trim but that's been tough to get. Again, I'm not pushing too hard. I knew there were about 50 people total (all trims) in front of me when I put the deposit down. They've been getting quite a few VINs on Failcat since then so I'm hopeful. It seems like people have been getting their orders delivered at MSRP with no drama so that's a plus considering the stories people from across the country have posted on the forum. I'm hoping a few people might jump out of line to buy an un-allocated Nightfall Edition and potentially speed up my order.

The process as you described is also as I have come to understand it. I got Ken to reply on text on Saturday after I had both called his office line and texted him. The response was very limited and only that we are still on target. He didn't answer my question re: how far up I have moved from the original 22 SX orders that were in front of me. I am not going to push any further right now but if the original 20 week timeline is going to hold true then I would think my order would need to go in to KFOS during the September allocation window. I will update as I hear more.

What was your order date when he said there were 22 people? I'm curious so I can try to estimate how many EX's there might be. It sure seems like predominantly EX and SX VINs have been created for them since early July. Only 2 S's. Wondering if there are more EX orders than SX.

Ordered Jun 10.

So you were about a full month before me. Assuming there were maybe 40-45 total at that time, and you had 22 people ahead of you for an SX, and there were probably 15-20 EX's, then carry the 4, and...yeah I'm not figuring out my place in line...I will just try to be patient :)

I'm assuming you will, but please let us know when he notifies you that you got into KFOS. Seems like the VIN shows up 2-3 weeks later. Based on other threads it sounds like August was a big allocation month for dealers.

It's definitely not the easiest math equation to solve! I will certainly let you know when the order is accepted to KFOS. I am praying for next month.

As a side, I saw that Cape & Islands Kia in Yarmouth had my exact order show up on Failcat so I called them today. They said all Tellurides are going 5K over sticker. "OK, thanks. Bye." :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, hard pass on that. Ken did call about a similar one in Nightfall that I passed on, but I should have asked what the price would be out of curiosity. I'm assuming most dealers that take orders at MSRP are not selling dealer-allocations at MSRP. I get why some people are willing to pay over to get the car sooner. With the pandemic, I'm barely driving these days so it's easier to wait. My fingers are just crossed my order comes in a little early and I can maybe avoid buying new tires for my car before winter.

We are in a similar situation. We don't NEED the new car right away, but at the same time I am avoiding some maintenance to rear suspension bushings on my wife's CX-9. That is why I called on the unit down the Cape. If it was available and I could get it sooner than our order I would have done so.

Exactly. I'm pushing 200k miles and my tires are about shot and won't be safe to use in winter. I would really like to not put more money into this car than it is worth but I might not be able to avoid the tires before my order arrives.

The long journey to Telluride ownership has finally ended!! Picked up my SXP today.
My wife and I absolutely love it. Here’s hoping that feeling endures!!
Many thanks to Bob Fisher and Jim Brophy

I spoke with Brian Byington at Ron Bouchard Kia in Lancaster today. He has 4 S, 4 EX and 1 SX with Sept, Oct and Nov ETAs that are not spoke for at the moment. One of the EX is a Wolf Gray/Black Nightfall Premium.

Unfortunately he still doesn't have an inbound combination we are interested in. A friend of mine picked up a Moss/Black SXP from him last week at MSRP.

If you head his way be sure to tell him that Rich T sent you. And no....I have zero affiliation with them. Brian just happens to be one of the local dealers who has been great with keeping me up to date with what they have incoming since he knows we are in the market.

Hope it helps someone local!
Rich

What was the color combo on the SX?

Not sure if it's yours, but they posted 2 SXs on Facebook and said they were available because " Both deals fell thru due to financing ineligibility." Maybe they're pulling his on everyone just to sell them at markups now that they know what they're worth?

It's listed in the FB group "KIA Telluride Buy-Sell-Trade"

Interesting... They still have my deposit on it but I wouldn't be surprised if they refund it and drop me. I'll have to go find that group.

My VIN came through overnight. It's confusing to feel both excited, angry, and hesitant. I called my dealer and got them to answer by blocking my number with *67 before dialing for the 3rd time this morning. My salesperson is very nice, but there's nothing he can do. He's sympathetic and told me he'd have his manager call. Still nothing.

I'll possibly have a decision to make:
  1. If they work with me, take it at MSRP -- SX-P/T Black Copper w/Dune. Pros: Get it in Sept.

  2. Or wait until approx January for the SX-P/T Nightfall Everlasting Silver & Dune w/the illuminated scruff plates and mud guards, which roughly works out to the same price as #1 @ MSRP. Pros: more time to pay off debt and save up on the down payment. Cons. 22 wks. 😭

Can only imagine the frustration...

My wife and I test drove at Commonwealth Kia in Lawrence on Thursday. I had scheduled to drive an EX or SX, but when I got there they only let me drive an LX which was a bit frustrating. They're posting SX models with a 10K "SX Model Surcharge." We were driving a lot of cars back to back so I didn't spend any time discussing what they might take, but they did say the cars weren't sold (one with SX-P, one with Nightfall).

We drove the Palisade right after driving the Telluride and honestly I felt like they were so similar that it'd be really hard to justify a significant pricing difference. We both liked the Kia style a bit better, but no way its work 5K let alone 10K more. Given the crazy supply and pricing on Tellurides I'm honestly leaning towards getting a Palisade instead which I can get at or even below MSRP.

Here's the window sticker with their 10K price adjustment too - interesting tactic.

Welcome. Yep, all too common. If you really want a Telluride, there are some good resources on this forum. The thread you posted in has some good dealer references too that sell at a lower price.
