• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone able to negotiate a discount on UVO?

I broke down and renewed at the $149 rate, after bitching at and giving up with Kia Customer Service. Dealer couldn't do anything, either.
I have been using the remote start all summer (wicked hot here this year) while golfing. I UVO it on the 18th tee and it's perfect when I get to the parking lot.

For about 350 Kia will instal a fob remote start and you can tell uvo to cram it

Other than losing the remote start, climate, and other options available through the app, does anything else stop working when UVO isn't renewed?

If I had the nerve to do proximity upgrade so when I walk away from the vehicle it will auto lock/unlock; I would probably drop UVO. Got used to that nicety on the previous 20 Traverse

I'm looking into installing that module as well as the Accessorides remote start. Even at 33% off, UVO is just too much for a sub-par solution.

I currently have the 1 year free ultimate UVO service; seems handy but I'm not sure I want to fork out that cost every year. I know there are other UVO plans so we'll see later on down the road

Given that it doesn't work 20% of the time, they had better at least give me a 20% discount when it's time to renew!

If I remember reading right, I think you lose the red light camera warnings and weather if those are your thing. I have clicked on my weather app precisely 1 time just to see what it looked like

I went to start my 2020 Telluride via the UVO app and didn't realize my "subscription " expired. I called and I am absolutely disgusted that we have to pay a ridiculous amount to be able to remotely start our vehicle when it is 5 degrees out. The guy I talked to was a rude, argumentative, imbecile. I asked him if he had a kidney transplant if he would be willing to pay a yearly fee and he just kept spouting off about the amenities of the app. I love my Telluride, but this is just a failure on Kias end.

Why on Earth would you:
A> be willing to say something like this to someone simply doing their job
B> think this would be helpful in the outcome you were trying to come to
C> tell people on the internet of how disgusting you acted

"Honey attracts more bees than vinegar"

The simple answer is you are upset you didn't do your homework when you purchased your vehicle and subsequently activated your subscription.

I disagree with this statement. At no time prior to purchase was I informed (verbal or in writing) that remote start was going to require a subscription to an app. At no time was I informed of the exorbitant monthly cost of said app. And at no time was I informed of just how terrible said app functioned (lag, delays, just not performing the function it was told to perform, etc). I (like many others) just assumed that in 2020 on a vehicle equipped with so much tech and with such a premium price that remote start on the key fob was a given.

That being said, the Telluride is an awesome vehicle. This is one of my only gripes. I am NOT going to pay for UVO, rather I will be installing the Accessorides remote start module to replace it (I don't need the other functionality...not that it works anyway). And I will be installing the proximity door lock/unlock module described in this thread to go above and beyond what Kia provided.

Doing your job is one thing, HOWEVER, this applications fees were never explained in detail. I spent months looking, test driving, looking at specs, researching warranties, before making my purchase. The UVO app is subpar at best.

Technically it was on your window sticker and in the terms and conditions when you set up your UVO account online. But it is not blatantly obvious.

Also dealers/salesmen definitely don’t do a particularly good job making it 100% clear remote start on the 2020 model is subscription based for a fee. Most people who buy the car usually already know more about it than the salesman ir have already made up their mind to buy the car before walking into the dealership to order/buy one. So not really much incentive for them to provide this detail about UVO subscription costs.

With all that said, I think calling Kia to ask for a discount for UVO is perfectly fine. But insulting and blaming the reps over the phone about having to pay for a subscription at all after already purchasing the car seems a little pointless. Same as calling Verizon and getting angry at them for having to pay for cellular service because when you bought your iphone you expect it to have free internet.

I did not ask for a discount when I called. I called because when I went to use the app to start my car to warm up for my grandchildren, it was grayed out and said to call. The gentleman who answered my call was the one who was rude at the beginning of the conversation and throughout the entirety of the conversation. I was NOT rude nor ignorant to the rep when I made the statement of having to pay yearly for the kidney transplant. I was simply saying that I felt it is ridiculous that after paying $48,000 cash for my vehicle that I will be having to pay a yearly fee to be able to autostart my vehicle. In my opinion, which everyone is entitled to have, this was a failure on Kias part to not include an auto start.....the rest of the features of UVO can be a premium charge. I have ZERO complaints regarding my dealership, my service team, my salesman, and my vehicle.

Totally agree. I don’t think anybody with the 2020 model likes the subscription dependent remote start.

ugh, I am so sorry, I too, think the dang remote start should be part of the car and not a subscription. the 21 model has this feature on the key fob. Sorry this happened to you. I don't want to pay for uvo either, lol.

I just paid $199 for the year to renew ultimate. It gave me a coupon of MYUVO for $98 discount, hopefully it works for everyone.
