• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone able to negotiate a discount on UVO?

If Kia offered 10 years of UVO for free at 3K more MSRP, would you have bought the Telluride? Free FordPass has the price baked into the MSRP. Every manufacturer's business model differs. Research what you are getting into before you make a purchase.
I never knew about Ford Pass before I bought my vehicle so I never "felt" any add-on to the MSRP.

Would you object to 25-35 more on a plane fare if it included one bag?

Whether you knew it or not, you paid for an optional feature that you may or may not need.

Using your analogy, If Airline A offered a fare for $130 with "free" baggage vs Airline B offered a $100 fare with $30 baggage fee, I would take Airline B every single time. You have an option to choose.

HA! Joke is on you...I don't need to check in any baggage :ROFLMAO:

If I had the nerve to do proximity upgrade so when I walk away from the vehicle it will auto lock/unlock; I would probably drop UVO. Got used to that nicety on the previous 20 Traverse
Is this a third party thing or is it done through a dealership?

It’s third party; search for proximity switch here on the forum

Has anyone installed the illuminated scuff plates on a telluride and is there a instruction manual for the installation .

Is there any way to takeover the remote start from the UVO app?
Like having a third party remote start installed? May have a relay installed since it can start remotely. Electronics guys out there? Rather pay once than subscribe.

I am assuming you have a 2020 model.

Somebody once said their dealer could convert their 2020 to a 2021 remote start using a 2021 remote. Then never followed up.

Another person said they heard from Kia customer service there is something similar on the works. No ETA.

Here is the only third party company so far that is 100% plug and play (no takeover, meaning car will shut off when you open the door). Open a panel under the glove box, unplug, plug, done. No wire splicing.

If you want to get fancier with takeover function or CarLink smart phone control, both similar to how UVO remote start works, here is the thread to see.

As an SX Owner, really annoyed have to pay a premium on top of my lease to have remote start.

I obviously knew this has been coming at some point once my free year was up which is next month.

Anyone able to negotiate a discount? I'll pay for it - but not $22/month. I'd do $100/year.

For only really using it in Ohio a couple months in the winter and now in the summer its not worth $22/month for a year.
I’m in the same situation being in Michigan except I guess I didn’t pay attention to the “one year trial” for remote start. I’m annoyed to have to pay additional on top of my lease payment! Any promo codes available to offset the cost?? Thanks!

I recently renewed UVO Plus, not the Ultimate and I just found out that on board navigation is DISABLED unless you renew the top tier $200 annual subscription. How can this be? How did I miss this point in the forums? I'm hoping the woman I spoke with was just incorrect, I "pulled a Karen" and was told her manager wasn't available but would be calling me back. I said it wasn't at all clear from both the renewal email and the renewal website itself that navigation was ONLY part of the Ultimate package. Am I blind? Am I going crazy? Here's a direct paste from the website:

ULTIMATE PACKAGE

Here're the list of additional features of selected package.
  • Send Destination to Car
  • Kia Connect Skill (Amazon Alexa)
  • Kia Connect Agent (Google Assistant)
  • Kia Connect Voice Assist
  • Stolen Vehicle Recovery
How exactly is this clear? It doesn't even say Navigation anywhere. Sorry for the rant but I am PISSED.

I saw you already read my post in the other thread. I’ll just reiterate here as well for others.

This is not true. You were lied to or misinformed by somebody who doesn’t actually know how the car works.

Many owners here have been using on-board UVO navigation with expired UVO subscriptions, myself included.

Main thing you get with a paid subscription is remote lock and remote start features. In terms of the other navigation features, it uses internet to aid in your search results and voice recognition. The paid subscription does not “unlock” the map data that is already installed in the car’s head unit. Some have been unsuccessful in getting their nav to work without updating to the latest map version.

Thanks so much for the response. App Car Unlock is really the only reason I went with the Plus, because that pays for when you need it when you least expect it. My garage has very weak cellular coverage so I've even yet to use remote start. I haven't updated to the Barney Edition yet but with my aging maps I'm just waiting to see what this month's update will look like (fingers crossed)

Did you ever have any luck? I just called and they said there were no other promotions going on to get a lower price. It is better now than it was but still! I looked into installing a remote start but o can pay for 3 years of this service for what that costs currently. :(

I have a gesture. Let's all of us. I' mean all of us. Let it expire. Then you'll see them giving out promotions like it's going out of style. 👍🇺🇲

It bugs me to pay $15 a month to have the remote start operate. But having a 2022 in Massachusetts, it is not an option for me. As a result of the remote design, and a foolish State law that was passed, it will remain inoperable.

The law wasn't foolish. Kia is taking an extreme stance to avoid complying with this law. If every state had a right-to-repair law, they would not be disabling this feature country-wide.

It really burns my butt though that this is all free in Canada and has been for a while. They are most likely using the same infrastructure, which slows down what we pay a buttload for.

It is free for the first five years in Canada. I guess we will facing the same decision to renew or not in a few years. By the way, the accessorides remote start will not install on Canadian Tellurides without removing a security bracket on the body control module were you need to plug-in the connectors.

I know there is a continual gripe about paying for UVO, but given the great price for the car compared to most other imports, do all these makes give you lifetime unlimited connectivity? I leased an Audi A6 that offered vehicle WIFI with the intial purchase for a year. After that, it required you to pay for a cellular plan (not verizon) to maintain this complete with its own sim cards. I renewed my KIA with the plus $149/year. The key fob for my means is useless since its parked in a garage at home and too far away at work. $149/yr or $12.50/mo or $.42/day to unlock, lock and start my car anywhere is fine for me.
