• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have had two occasions where my garage door when opening activated the power liftgate. The bottom of the panel hit the garage door. This caused scratches and small pits in the paint of the gate at the bottom section below the license plate. I had set the smart function on.

Has any other owners experienced this?

So it sensed motion (the garage door) and lifted? Interesting!

I don't park in a garage most of the time and don't have the smart feature on, but that's something to think about for when I do park in a garage.

Never seen it. as far as I know, the fob has to be near the tailgate and even then it beeps four times before opening! Is it conceivable the button beside the steering wheel is somehow getting pressed?

Depending on the trim (and maybe model year), you can adjust how high the tailgate opens. We did have to adjust ours down a little so it doesn't hit the door.
