• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone recently got Kia to replace windshield

I just got mine replaced on a 24 prestige xline, total was over 2,000 after calibration. Then noticed the bracket for the plastic case around the mirror was broken and they'd tried to glue it...it didn't hold. Got the 2nd one in today...the opposite corner of the plastic casing wasn't flush so they're ordering a new one. Combination of lack of attention to detail and a bad design. There is no bracket in the lower left section and a wire provides just enough pressure to push it away from the glass. I love this car, but disappointed in this aspect

I just had mine replaced and calibrated at Safelite for $1029. I did not get a quote from the local dealer. Also 24 x-line xpro prestige. I didn’t check up around the mirror but will do that now. Maybe just a local market price difference. Service was in Texas.

Montana. There are only 2 kia dealers in the state and they're not close, so just finding glass can be a challenge. I'm waiting on a new piece and hopefully the brackets will all be intact

Did insurance cover part of it?

How is your glass not covered? That should fall under comprehensive.

Transitioning into full Snowbird status (also from a shop owner's perspective) and owning cars in two states, NOT all states have windshield as a standard part of comprehensive coverage.
I do know that Mass. & Florida and some others do.
I also know that N.J. DOES NOT.

Received a stone chip on a recent road trip that soon after developed into a propagating crack. After checking around I elected to go with an OEM replacement through my dealer. Total came to a bit over $1,400: windshield $1,024, installation $185, and calibration $185. Interestingly the dealer uses a contractor for the installation - apparently there is not enough demand to keep a windshield guy on-site. Job turned out well and no problems so far. Not a lot more than Safelite, and I am more comfortable with original parts.

Very few dealers have their technicians perform windshield replacements. In their eyes (usually the service manager) it's more profitable to have an outside company (called "sublet") perform the work whilst the technicians continue to perform the normal jobs they do.

I do know of one dealer (Non Kia) that does the glass installations "In House".

Woke up today to a horizontal crack originating on my 21 Telluride SX Nightsky driver-side A-pillar, extending about 6-8 inches. No impact whatsoever. Just a hairline (thick hair). The Telly was parked on my driveway and it magically happened. I just became aware of this whole issue now as I'm reading this thread and saw the calss action lawsuit in the US (I'm in Toronto, Canada). Mine is still under warranty (just a few months left), so I headed to the dealership this morning. I have to bring it in next week for a proper inspection, with an appointment. The service advisor said they need to check if what the warranty period is for windshields (I thought it had 5yrs bumper to bumper!). I have been planning to buy out the lease at the end of the term, but this scares me a bit if it'll be an on-going issue... I hope Kia acknowledges this problem and covers the replacement. I'm also concerned about what will happen after the warranty expires? Then it'll be out of pocket or via insurance claims. Not happy.
