• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Back passenger window spontaneously explodes.

Had an unsatisfactory discussion with the owner of the dealership just now. Claims he can't replace any glass without calling in a company rep to review the problem. Maybe correct but that doesn't mean he CAN'T address it. He just won't. Luckily, I do have insurance that will replace it and cost me only $100. The flying glass debris also left some scratches on the car; owner claimed this could not have happened but then backed then when I told him I saw glass fragments hitting the side of the car in my rear view window. He has agreed to try to buff those out free of charge to me. I also filed a complaint with the NHTSA since I believe these incidents need to be on record somewhere. And the bigger question for me is whether to keep the car. I drove an Audi Q7 before this one and bought the Kia because I thought it would be a safe, reliable vehicle with lower maintenance costs. My 2 YO granddaughter sometimes rides in this car and the thought of flying glass injuring her disturbs me a lot. I've been getting an email pretty much weekly from various Kia dealers, asking me to sell them the car. First have to get the glass replaced

The broken glass did the same thing to the side of my car as well, some of the chips are beyond buffing. You could try contacting Kia customer service 800-333-4542. That was my next step if the dealer wasn't willing to take care of it. Doesn't solve the uneasy feeling that it could happen again, hoping it's like being struck by lighting.

Thanks so much. I think I have that number already and will call them if they don't take care of the paint issues.

Happened in my 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. Driving down the interstate and heard a small “thunk” from the back. Two seconds later and the entire window shattered. I think a small rock hit it at just the right angle. Passenger windows are just tempered, they aren’t safety glass like the windshield. Either way, I get my glass tinted all the way around, even if the window has factory tint to it.
The tinting aids in some way in these situations? Maybe keeps shattered glass from disbursing?

Driving down the freeway at 60 mph in our brand new Telluride when the back passenger window exploded completely with a bang. Very little glass was left attached to the seal. Shocked the heck out of us, but we decided to drive to the nearest Kia dealer who argued that no, it was not a manufacturer's defect. (!) With less than 300 miles on the odometer, we begged to differ and persisted until the Service manager reluctantly gave us a claim form. Ever baby MBA knows that when new customer acquisition costs you zero effort, you are absolutely misguided to alienate said customer. Very disappointing start to ownership experience to find combative Customer Service.
Hi there! I'm very interested in your story. The rear window of my brand new 2022 Kia Soul (with only 650 km on it) blew out (not in) today when I got in and shut my driver's door. Scared the shit outta me! My question is, did the dealership end up covering the cost to repair/replace the window? Did you incur any costs at all? I expect they will argue the issue with me initially as they did you. So, what did you say or do that swayed them to cover it? I'm going in tomorrow, as they were already closed when it happened. Thank you so much!
Darren; Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Various Palisade people have had this happen with the windshield and/or sunroof FWIW.
Just happened to my rear passenger window on my 2020 palisade today. Driving on highway, windows up and just exploded. Thank goodness I was alone and my kids werent in the car. Something is up with the glass in these cars. We are on our 3rd windshield. First car I’ve ever had to replace a windshield in also and I’ve been driving for over 20 years.

Same with me. In Breckenridge, driving at 50 and honestly thought the back window was shot out.
