• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I'm curious if I was the only sucker to buy the wheel warranty? I had a bunch of scratches which were approved but the paint job is HORRIBLE. I'm being told at the dealership that basically "this is what it looks like" and "they'll never look factory again". But I've had 3 people tell me they could have done that job with a rattle can. I'm so frustrated, and I'm definitely taking it up with Warranty.

to be honest, I've done better jobs with a rattle can in a high wind.
You surely have reason to be upset with the dealer if that is their best attempt and they seem happy with it.

thank you for the validation

From everything I'm aware of, the "wheel & tire warranty" is NOT backed by KIA N.A.
Rather it's a 3rd. party warranty. And/or the level of service is; Local and sublet work.

Furthermore the refinishing is very likely performed by one of those outfits that tows an enclosed trailer to the dealerships for wheel cosmetic repairs. Some of them are just okay. Most suck.

I've seen them use various filling agents to fill in deep gouges etc. on wheels of the used car lot (most of their business, BTW) then use a small airbrush to paint. Then a hair drier to bake the finish...
In all honesty (something I'll never pen to any salesperson. I've worked alongside too many of them over the years) the sales department drives what quality/what we're willing to pay. The results speak for themselves.

This is likely how yours were handled?

Yes, I understand and agree that is most likely the case. The good news is that the dealership I purchaed from reached out (I tagged them in a fb post) and is trying to help.

Not sure how common it is in the Kia world? Was very much so in the BMW service world I came from.

Often the dealership would have very lightly used rims as part of a leftover of a customer having bought an upgrade (salesroom driven) to their new vehicle. Often when they do have, like new wheels can be had.

HTH?

Contact whoever sold you the warranty, tell them that you want the repair redone to your satisfaction, or a refund on the warranty.
