California Telly Owners! *tips, recommendations, etc.*

It’s 2,500 for LX and S trims. He said they typically ask 8K over on EX and SX. : (
I called Santa Rosa and talked to another salesman. He said 5K over MSRP. No good for me. Called Valley Kia in Modesto and was told 3K over MSRP. That's the best I have found so far in Cali.

I was about to place an order with i25 but read your comment and paused. I left a message with Dan so hopefully the markup has not gone up since you ordered it in June. Were you charged anything other than $2,500? Such as dealer handling fees, mandatory add-ons (front window tinting, clear coating, Stargard tracking, etc.)? I've contacted my share of dealers and when you go into the details, there were so many mandatory extras it was ridiculous. Thanks.
I did the same thing. Ordered from i25, but ended up going with Modesto Kia (with $2K markup) to avoid DMV stuff and so I could drive there to pick up my car. Figured I’d pay $1500 to ship from Colorado anyway, so just bit the bullet in the extra $500.

You live in the area (Roseville)? What color interior did you get?
I live in Elk Grove. Ended up getting black interior. 👌🏽

anyone checked with Redding Kia lately?

Around this time last year, they had an almost $3K markup on all vehicles, including Telluride.

Just curious where they're at now in August 2021.

I had the unfortunate case of getting T-boned by a speeding red light runner last weekend and most likely will be a total loss. Only had my Telluride for 3 weeks!!! So I will be on the lookout for another Telluride soon.

I couldn't find this dealership on the forum's search but has anyone checked Hanlees Kia in Davis? I saw that they have one that matches my 'coming soon' on the Kia website.

The Kia website will show cars that are spoken for. Give the dealership a call to ask. Occassionally, buyers refuse to accept delivery for whatever reason and if you happen to call with perfect timing, who knows?

That’s brutal! Sorry to hear that. How frustrating. How did you like it for the short time you had it? I like your color combo. You sticking with it?

Thanks, took 9 months to deliver too. Definitely frustrating. But I loved it and will most likely stay with the same color combination and will probably add on the prestige package if available.

When I was first shopping for a Telluride this time last August:

Kia Vacaville 10K+ markup + horrible customer service, didn't return my calls/messages until 5 weeks later when I already put down a deposit at Hilltop to backorder my Telly.

Kia Redding had $2.7k-$3k dealer package (or markup) on all Kia vehicles

Capitol Kia was bait and switch. Claimed MSRP and offered it for a short interval then started charging outrageous markups to Silly Valley $$$$$$ customers without pulling all their previous posts claiming MSRP.

Elk Grove. Massive markups + lots of $$$ add-on shenanigans.

A handful of solid out-of-state dealerships in TX/CO are probably your best bet at this point.

Sounds like she did a nice job of protecting you. Any pictures from the incident?

I originally checked with Hilltop and they indicated the long timeline you mention. Then, I looked at their allocations and it was really low. Not good for a high demand, low supply vehicle.

So, I searched failcat for high volume dealers, that had no or low mark up. i25 near Denver, Colorado has high allocations and at the time of ordering I was 11th in line.

Take a look at my signature, the timeline is going to be about 7 weeks from initial contact to delivery. As always in life, it's your time or your money. This is a little wait time, with a little "dealer document" mark up. I am flying in from So Cal. Then road tripping home.

Perhaps call i25, place a refundable deposit and see which one comes in first. Either way it will be a 2022.

i25 KIA
$500 fully refundable deposit, (MSRP) + Dealer Fee $695 + Doc Fee $32.19 ($727.19) Add on.

Delivery option est. $1,000 uncovered, $1,300 covered transport
Hey - who did you deal with at i25?

man, I feel for you guys ... but on the other hand, where I am (Vancouver, BC) we have just a fraction of the choice of interior colors etc. I ordered the Nightsky (Nightfall in US) GG SX-P and my choice of interior was black leather. That's it. That's the Canadian market for you.

but ...

I did get it for 1% under MSRP ordered from factory through my broker (through a bigger dealership).

Barely any of the local dealerships had any stock and none in my configuration so it was a no-brainer.

Hanlees was asking $10k over msrp for orders and a 3 month wait.

Has anyone here successfully purchased his/her Telluride from Salinas Kia? I placed an order earlier this month but I don't know how realistic the 6-8 month waiting period is. Also, if purchasing from out of state, are there any extra costs I should calculate into the final price other than the shipping cost and smog check cost? In other words, do I end up paying more to DMV if I purchase a vehicle from out of state and try to register in CA?

Considering they quoted me 3-6 months around the same time, probably not realistic at all.

To register in CA, sales tax is either collected by out of state dealer, who forwards to CA, or pay at CA DMV. CA registration fees comes to a little over $600, usually not collected by dealer. Someone posted that smog check may not be required, but don't know it anyone did that. Most people had smog check and DMV did not tell us it's not needed.

Smog Check is typically not needed on a new car... "Starting January 1, 2019, if your vehicle is less than 4 model years old, you can pay a smog abatement fee instead of getting a smog inspection for the first 8 years that your vehicle is registered."

Does anyone know if Modesto delivers on their 3-6 months waiting period? They charge a 3K markup which is probably the lowest in California but I am not sure how reliable they are especially that their reviews are not stellar.

My other option is i25 Kia in Colorado which is a bit of hassle especially the shipping part. If you have worked with them, could you share your experience with their delivery system? If some damage happens during the shipping, do you know who will be liable? Do they have to send the customer another car or they only pay the cost of repairs?

Appreciate any thoughts/suggestions.
