• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Canadian 2021 Telluride

Is the Self leveling rear suspension worth the upgrade to SXL?
It’s supposed to make the breaks more effective, so in my opinion it is worth it. I have two little babies who will be seated behind us, so safety was a top factor for us in purchasing a new vehicle.

this function only works when towing. with 3 passengers in the back row and a couple of suitcases, this function is not required and will not turn on.
a significant load and a change in the horizontal line are needed.

This is done so that there is a ground clearance in the rear and the headlights shine on the road and do not follow oncoming people. The system itself is very primitive, a solenoid valve. This is not air suspension, which always works.

Then I think I might get the SX right away... I will be hauling more people than towing a trailer, so that suspension is not a necessity if the standard thing works

You’re right - it is not on the brochure, but is available. It was clearly specified on the paperwork prepared by our sales guy that we signed for the factory direct order yesterday. I will post a photo of that tomorrow but that’s really all I’ve got along with an email from a sales guy saying he confirmed with Kia Canada rep that it was an option. Apparently it was to be released in the fall but because of Covid they’re allowing earlier orders.
Any photos?

Any photos?

I would like to see those as well, I am itching to get this thing...

My dealer in Calgary a few weeks ago said, they have NO knowledge of a Nighfall Edition coming to Canada, but that was before I read this thread and now being called Midnight Edition.

I guess I should go back with this knowledge.

Blank post, no photo. Please repost the image so we can see it? (Maybe you can't post it cause you are a new member like me?) Can you send upload it to a free image place like imgur or dropbox and send us a link via private Message? i would VERY much appreciate it.

I tried to send you a message, but not allowed probably because I am too new also.

It won’t allow me to upload the image. Feel free to email me for it, shan.brigid@gmail.com, or take my word for it, cause we definitely ordered one.

Shan, I 100% believe you, I just want something to bring back to my dealer so they can look into it further.

I see your attachment, but I can't download it properly, so I have sent you an email, would you be willing to send the image that way so I can print off for the dealer?

Thank you very much for your help.

I suppose it’s out of ignorance. The dealer could have pointed out the gold-plated steering wheel. Under Canadian law, the dealer sells you a car that will be produced and if the manufacturer changes the equipment or other conditions, the dealer is not responsible. They will offer to return the deposit and even not submit to the court for compensation for the waiting time.
and you won't sue Kia, either, since this is a third party and we have all relations through a dealer.

I really want to believe Shan ordered one on the premise that is what she will get and that the Dealer will fulfill the agreement, but ya I have some concerns as well.

1) It's more that $1000 for the "Nightfall" package than she was charged (It's more than that in the US, let alone Canada, my understanding it was supposed to be $1700 to $2000 in Canada),
2) The way it was added to the build order is weird. They were charged $54,995 as the "base" (which is $1000 higher than the base on the SX-L on kia.ca), however it should have been an option, not base.
3) On the "Midnight Package" line, it's $0 (because of above)
4) MSRP could change
5) Interest Rate could change.

I really want to believe, I truly do, and regardless of my doubts (not on Shan's part, but the dealer), I printed this and brought to my dealer. He was surprised and gave it to his manager so they can investigate further, so I guess I will hear more tomorrow, but something just does not add up.

I really hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling the dealer is going to play a Bait & Switch with Shan or they will just black out a normal SX-L which is what my dealer does. ($1000 is a great deal for that)

Guess we will find out in 6 months.

Good news: My dealer called today and advised the car has entered production - ETA to dealer is end of August.
Bad news: they said there will be a price increase from the 2020 to 2021 model year and they are unsure what it is yet (I was under the impression that Kia would cover the increase with converted orders?). He also said that the 5 year financing rate is moving from 2.49% to 3.99%. This is very odd, as it seems every other manufacturer is lowering their rates!

I think $500-$1000 extra for 2021

Kia Canada covers the difference in price, I have this letter from a good friend of mine, but unfortunately I cannot share it at his request. Write an email to Kia Canada asking for clarification on the price increase.

this is the dealer's independence, as there are no% rates for August yet. Kia will publish them on August 2. Dealers will know the changes on Friday (last business day).
What is specified in your contract regarding monthly payment and interest rate?
For example, my dealer indicated in the contract both the amount of the monthly payment and the interest rate.

It also will not have the repair bills that an air suspension has. We have three kids and a dog. One highschooler, middle schooler and elementary - so we will have weight in the third row. We have an Odyssey now - and when it is loaded down for a trip - there is noticeable squat. I hate that about FWD based crossovers and minivans. I doubt we ever tow anything - but I wanted the upgraded suspension to counteract the weight in the back half of the vehicle when on trips. Primitive or not - if you need it - better to have it than have the back of your car sitting low when on a trip.

Just imagine how much it weighs:
maximum 120 kg.
Moreover, this weight is located before and after the axis, it is distributed.
This is not enough to activate the solenoid valve.
It is designed for trailers, it is not an air suspension that adjusts against any changes. ...

We ordered March 15. Our paperwork shows the 2.49% rate.

Our dealer told us the interest rate was subject to change when we specifically ordered a 2021...but not subject to change on a 2020. Sounds like they’re trying to pull a fast one on you perhaps.

The rate that you will get is the rate that is active when you go sign the final paperwork at the dealer and bring the car home. In my case in May 2020 it was 2.49% for 60 months.

But I have an account at carcostcanada.com and for the 2020 Telluride, there is a 'Factory Finance' at 2.49% but also a 'BMO & RBC Prime Finance' at 2.99% and you get a $1000 prime rate credit discount. Before buying the car I did my own calculation in Excel and for a Telluride SX in Canada, I saved about $9.00 a month for 60 months when using the 2.99% rate and the $1000 discount before tax instead of the 2.49% rate. I had also negociated $2230 in rebate from the MSRP for the Telluride SX from my car dealer in Quebec, so in total I got a discount of $3230.

Here is a screen capture of the carcostcanada report:

this is a good thing, because under consumer protection law, you can insist on this percentage.

In my contract, the percentage is also indicated, deferal 120 days, the amount of the monthly payment.

I will to go to a lawyer to consult about the INCREASE in price and how to put pressure on the dealer to get the terms in the contract.
