• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... CarPlay not working (but cord is charging phone)

Entering this thread. Having trouble with intermittent loss of USB connection to Apple Car Play on my iPhone. Came to this thread to see if this was an issue for others. Just read beato1's entry. Checked my settings and found USB Accessories was not turned on in Allow Access When Locked. I'm hoping that corrects the matter.

Just saw this and tried what a previous post suggested, press the little reset button next to the volume. This allowed my hands free and apple car play to work again. So weird!!

I’m assuming it’s fixed now, hopefully but I just went through the same issue and came here to find answers unfortunately I did not but what I did do was unplug the cars battery for 5 minutes to allow it to reset and the car play is working again! :-) hopefully this helps someone.

Went in today for the 2nd time and they were supposed to switch out the USB port to see if that was the issue, but they didn’t. They opened a tech line ticket (they should’ve have done this 2 weeks ago), so now we wait, again. It’s pretty frustrating considering it’s a brand new car! I did the same thing…plugged my phone in with the same cord in 2 other cars and connected within 2 seconds, no problem. Hope they can figure this out asap!
Pushing the little reset button worked for me

I'm with you - 2020 Telluride - I've done EVERYTHING the internet has suggested. Just doesn't work - did you connect with a dealer directly to fix this?

I recently encountered an issue slightly different to the OP, before performing the v16 software update.

The morning I drove the car, Carplay worked perfectly fine. In the afternoon when I started the car, I noticed no power going to the center USB data port and no Carplay. Power worked fine on the 12V and USB chargers to the left and right. The same cable would charge perfectly fine in the the right side USB port.

So I pressed the little reset button by the volume knob. As soon as I did this the USB data port worked perfectly fine again. For any issues with the center USB port, I would recommend to try the little reset button. It appears the power source for the center port is tied directly to the head unit.

Ah! This worked. I LOVE YOU haha

Username checks out!
Same problem but the dealership tell me the harness is fuse together and need to be replaced. It's months now still waiting for the harness all I keep getting is it back ordered it's been over 6 months now . Plus they don't want to pull up the whole thing just cut the part that they need and joined is that a good idea. Won't I have problems with that in the future

Still not fixed after we did the new update to the head unit…pressed the reset button multiple times throughout the process and doesn’t work.
I have a 2021 Telluride SX with 28K miles and in the last 9-10 months have been experiencing the Apple Car Play disconnect and connect and disconnect again. Super frustrating. I use multiple Apple OEM usb cable as recommended, use the center USB port, and after 15-20 mins of driving with CarPlay /Maps, it disconnects while I'm driving. Took it to the dealership and they tested it for 10 mins and says it is fine and gave it back to me. I just recorded the issue and will show this to the dealership.

Definitely take video and photos of when it does this…write down the days and times. I know it seems to be a lot, but if they don’t witness for themselves, they brush it off and say it’s all fine. When I took it in a second time, the techs all told me they tried 3 different phones and cords. Well, after being there for 10-15 minutes, I had them plug in their phone again and it didn’t work lol. I looked at them and said “see, I told you.” They have opened a tech ticket twice now, but it hasn’t been resolved. It’s a hit or miss for mine lately.

This worked! Thank you!

Lol, yes it’s plugged in the correct (center) port.
You have been really patient through all of these replies lol… If folks would just read in order to understand…

Hopped onto this thread because we’re having the same issue… CarPlay was working fine… tried new cords, trying other phones, etc. Just kind of stopped working consistently on the Telluride. Did the UVO reset work?

I’m having the same issue and unfortunately none of the suggestions worked for me. Did you find success??

Hi, my Kia is doing the same thing. Did you figure it out?

Just to confirm. You plugged the cord into the center usb plugin not the right side one.
Thank you so much! I had pulled my cord out of the car for a day and the next day couldn't get apple CarPlay to connect no matter what I did. I didn't even pay attention that there weee 2 different ports. Once I moved it to the right one it started right up!!!

No recent update was done, but I’m thinking I might have to. Someone else suggested doing a factory reset on the UVO software…hoping that’ll work!
Did you get this problem resolved? Mine just started doing this this week and I have always used it before.

Hi All!

Has anyone experienced any issues with their CarPlay not connecting when they plug in their iPhone? I’ve purchased new cords and even had other people connect their phones and CarPlay still doesn’t pop up. I’ve went through the steps of looking through my iPhone settings, forgetting the device and add it back on, etc. Wondering if my system might need a software update? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Veronica M.
Make sure you are connecting the USB cable to the correct port. On my 2021 Telluride, there are two USB ports: the one on the right only provides charging, while the one on the left enables CarPlay and connects your phone to the screen.
