When we travel, my wife and I like to have a couple of cold cans of soda available, so I spent some time measuring the center console box and found an insulated "lunch box" type cooler to fit:
It drops right into the arm rest with no wasted space left/right and leaves two or three inches of space above or below. It's big enough for a couple of cans of soda and maybe a small ice pack.
