• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... We have had the Telluride for one week. It's a 2021 SX model. On our maiden road trip, we experienced a chip in the windshield.
Checked the old discussion on this topic here: The Ultimate Telluride Windshield Chip/Cracking Discussion

The chip is about 1/2in x 1/4in size. How do you recommend I proceed? Go through my insurance company, contact the dealer, other?

Thanks,
Z.

Insurance will usually cover rock chip repair. If it needs replacement, depending on insurance, you either pay your deductible or if you have glass coverage you would be covered.

Knowing the issues the Telluride has had in the past, it might not hurt to reach out to your dealer and mention it to them first.

Thank you ND and Brendon. Very helpful.

Sounds bigger than some of the other chips we have heard about. Do you recall if a rock or something hit the windshield? I know others have stated the chips just happened randomly.

We were on the highway, driving around 70 mph. There were no cars in front of us. There was a car about a car length ahead in the adjacent lane. I heard a distinct crack sound. I did not see a rock hitting it, but I cannot say so with certainty.

Quick update and to close on this thread.
I went the easiest route... Called my insurance. They sent a repair person to my house the next day. The technician filled the chip and was done in 20min. Total cost: $50. You can still see where the chip was, but it is a lot less visible.

Here is the after picture.

Interesting...I was driving 15 Miles per hour and I heard a crack. Maybe an acorn hit it but now I have a crack...Geico will repair...if i dont like the repair they will replace. I am going to check on this defective windshield issue with the dealer...crazy stuff...I just purchased a 2021 SX Prestige....

A Glass America rep was sent by my State Farm Insurance.

State light ..I guess that is their name...are suppose to do a repair...I really don't want them taking the windshield out...I am going to call the dealer about windshield issues...

I went through the same thing. If it has not spread, I would much rather repair a chip than replace the windshield. Too much risk in replacement with all the safety features needing re-calibration.
