Comparing the Halos

Yesterday I drove by a SX and didn’t think twice about it until I asked myself the question one more time... why did Kia make the daytime driving light Halo amber on the LED headlights and white on the Halogens? Finally realized the answer and man do I feel silly for taking this long to figure it out!

The Amber halo doubles as a trim signal! On my S I have a horizontal Amber bar below the headlamp that is my left or right turn. On the LED headlamps with two projectors the turn signal is the halo which blinks when turning.

I was wondering the same thing about the different color halos after looking at pics here. Makes sense now thanks

That is one reason, but the other reason it just to make the top trim a little more special from the lower trim to incentivize the price jump.

Not unlike how Audi’s have base models with a simple DRL compared to their prestige trim signature DRL’s.



Not surprised Kia went with this method of distinguishing trim levels as Peter Schreyer from Audi was hired by Kia for design ideas.

Yeah I can see why Kia has the two colors. I have the white halos ( S model ) but with my DIY LED headlamps I like the way they look almost identical
