In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi everyone. I have had my eye on the telluride since it was first released but really started to save for one once the Nightfall edition came out. I have reached out to many of the dealers here in the Phoenix area and they all tell me there is a dealer mark up of 5-10k due to supply and demand. I finally went with my wife to look at the SX in gravity grey without NF and we really liked it. Then came the financial part. 5k mark up and almost 4K in dealer addons (which they would not remove). So the price went from 44k (msrp) to 58k out the door with mark up, taxes, and fees. They straight up told me I won’t be able to find an SX without a markup in the Phoenix area and I might be able to find an EX at msrp if I’m lucky. So a few days later I come across an EX in GG with a black interior on Carvana. This is the exact color scheme we want. I would love to have nightfall but I can make a few additions to get a similar look. I bought the EX knowing I can return. I got it for almost 44k but with all fees/taxes I’m around 48k. Also it’s a CPO so it does have 900 miles on it. I know this isn’t the best deal but all the dealerships out here aren’t taking orders anymore. Does anyone in the Phoenix area have input or experience with dealers out here?

Wow, at 48k, you could have an SX+Prestige brand new if you could wait for it. Great colors though - same as what we have here 😀

We sold our old vehicle to Carvana and got an excellent price, but it looked like the buying side of Carvana was much higher than it should be in most cases.

Not from Phx, but dealer in Tucson may order at MSRP although they are very backlogged and many people go to Colorado to the high volume dealers.

I’ll be getting the car Friday and have a 7 day trial with it. I spoke to both dealers in Tucson, Jim click Kia had the same 5k mark up and Royal Kia doesn’t have any in stock right now and don’t have availability to place orders on the 2021. Royal says they don’t have a mark up but couldn’t give me an estimate without a vehicle just so I could see what their price would be. I don’t want to settle on a different color based on availability but I know the price on this one isn’t the best. Also, being in the Phoenix area I don’t want my kids to suffer another summer in the back of my Tacoma.

That’s 48k including all fees and taxes. You got SXP with all taxes/fees for that price?

@jdrummer - the dealer we purchased from can ship vehicles anywhere and was a pleasure to work with. We paid MSRP for ours and shipping isn't terribly expensive. If you can wait for delivery, which is still probably 3ish months out give @Mweiland a shout in Minnesota 😀

And yes, we got our SXP for that price - taxes are paid separately in our state (and came to about $1900).

@jdrummer that was an SX-P with the tow package and a few other little accessories, so you could come out better than that if you didn't need towing 😀

Dang. I looked him up and found his contact info so I will reach out thanks for that. Maybe this is the route to go instead of the carvana way.

A new SX-P at MSRP out the door would be more than 48k. Probably 53k?

One thing you should consider: Since it is Carvana CPO, I assume it is not Kia CPO. In that case, your 10y/100k powertrain warranty drops to 5y/60k. Ordering new out of state at MSRP plus shipping will be a better option for you if you have time to wait.

Brand new EX-Premium NF MSRP is $44.6k which will come out same as Carvana.

Didn’t realize that warranty changed; that could be a deal breaker

Here’s the original sticker price and card fax report. It is CPO through Kia and has a few add-ons that raised the msrp. What does it cost to have it delivered to you or your area? I may have found this forum just in time if I can get in touch with another dealer out of state to order one. I didn’t really know that was a thing.

Edit: Kia CPO does not transfer to subsequent owners.

I really do not think you can buy Kia CPO outside of Kia network, so I would double check that. Check nowcar.com, I've saw few people having success getting free shipping. Muncie Kia, in Indiana will be under MSRP with costco pricing but the wait will be long. Most IN, IL, and OH dealers will order one at MSRP and ship at your expense. I've seen some MO and CO advertise at MSRP too. Shipping varies but figure ~$1 per mile. @StephenCantrelle is forum expert that works at Classic Kia, TX. He sells at MSRP but there is small dealer fee($700?) I hear. He is awesome around this forum so you can contact him if you want to pursue that route.

Alright you guys gave me two names of dealers but for some reason I can't message them or view their info.

The carfax shows it being sold from Valley Hi Kia as CPO. If they then sold it to Carvana, I'm not sure it can be sold as CPO.

@jdrummer, you need to have a few more posts on the forum before you're allowed to direct message anyone. You can call @Mweiland at Inver Grove Kia: Welcome to Luther Kia in Inver Grove in Minnesota -- Ask for Mitch.

@StephenCantrelle is also amazing, and may be closer to you there, but i think his dealership is incredibly high volume so the wait might be slightly more, but still worth checking in with 😀 . Again he's at Classic Kia, TX - just give them a call and ask for them.

Mitch was very helpful with my out of state order and answered questions no other dealership/salesperson I called would. I'm sure Stephen is the same.

We didn't have a trade to deal with, but selling to Carvana was so easy, and, in our case netted us almost private party sale value and was waaaay easier.

I wouldn't buy used because of warranty issues and I wouldn't buy with a mark up. The mark up would go away if people would stop buying them with mark up because they would just sit on the lot. To many people are impatient and want it now instead of waiting. With that said if you need a car now because your old one stopped working etc you will probably have to pay markup if you wanted something now in stock at dealer by you. The cost of delivery depends on how far the car needs to be shipped I would guess $800-$1,200 which could go up also because of gas prices.
