When someone custom orders a Telluride and then backs out and buys something else; that vehicle hits the dealer and it’s probably sold within days. No big deal right? Dealer gets a highly sought after vehicle and the original purchaser gets what they want. Here’s the rub: that original custom order pushes everyone else back potentially depending on dealer and allocations. It’s a snowball effect and one of the reasons why wait times can be as far out as 6-8 months. People get itchy, they want their orders as soon as possible and then jump on another Telly and so starts the chain of events. I was very lucky to find mine on a dealer lot but let’s think of those that have to wait another month maybe two because you let your order go without buying. The only people that really care (but probably don’t realize the process) are those waiting for their order to be processed.
