  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... When someone custom orders a Telluride and then backs out and buys something else; that vehicle hits the dealer and it’s probably sold within days. No big deal right? Dealer gets a highly sought after vehicle and the original purchaser gets what they want. Here’s the rub: that original custom order pushes everyone else back potentially depending on dealer and allocations. It’s a snowball effect and one of the reasons why wait times can be as far out as 6-8 months. People get itchy, they want their orders as soon as possible and then jump on another Telly and so starts the chain of events. I was very lucky to find mine on a dealer lot but let’s think of those that have to wait another month maybe two because you let your order go without buying. The only people that really care (but probably don’t realize the process) are those waiting for their order to be processed.

The way I understand it, a cancelled order can be changed (same from package) by the dealership. I was told I was the first buying customer after a cancellation so I got a spot already in the dealers allotment, thus I waited just 10 weeks or so from order to pick-up (today!)

You got very fortunate that dealer did not have a waiting list. If dealer has a order entered into KFOS/Kdealer and it commits then you can not edit that order whatsoever.

that being said congrats on your new ride! Hope to see pics posted soon

In Canada: If the vehicle is abandoned and the dealer does not have a customer in line for that trim and color, the dealer must inform Kia Canada and redirect to the dealer who has the person in the queue. Simply put, the car does not remain with the dealer.

Wow... that makes sense why I see y’all doing buyers orders upfront and requiring 10-20% down to order.

I have not met 10-20%, but up front they ask 3-5k to the deposit. When you say I will give 500, it takes a long time to agree on it.

It was before they entered it in KFOS as I waited a few days for their "next entry" period in the end of January. I was lucky as at least two other dealers around us had waiting list for upcoming allotments. One said the were three months out before they could put in my order. Good to get a better understanding of the system, I wasn't clear when I ordered how my dealer got my order so fast. Thanks Stephen. Will post some pics in the next few days, scheduling ceramic coating right off.

Again, super happy with Charlie's Kia of Augusta, asked only for $500 refundable deposit, sold at MSRP, zero hidden add ons, we're fair on my trade and as detailed above, pretty quick delivery!
