• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi
I drive Telluride EX Night Fall, I observed that if other vehicles are overtaking me closely the emergency brakes are activating
I think the rear-end emergency brakes are getting activated if other vehicles are coming closer.

Did anyone experience this?

Yes, I experienced something strange too. Happened twice one night within 5 mins apart. Was driving on the carpool lane at night, a car came up on my right passing me and I felt like the brake was briefly applied, and a large red triangle appeared on the screen.

The other occation was when the street light caused reflection on a patched concrete ahead of me. It was also at highway speed.

Another time when I was backing down a driveway and the car did the same when a pedestrian walked across in the front. I posted that here too. I am not sure what kind of safety function it is but it seems the car got confused with position of the objects.

I don’t mind much if these sensors are too sensitive but I hope it doesn’t do more than that in the future. Who knows what will happen when a sudden brake on the snow or slick surface .

In your case third time where pedestrian walked when you are backing up it did the right thing, because the purpose is to activate emergency brake when it notice a car or pedestrian pass by
But why activate when driving straight like in your case for first two instances, I think it’s a bug

Actually it’s the first time. I listed the most recent first. I thought when in reverse, it should only alert me objects detected in the rear. I have driven 2 other cars with the same safety feature and neither one behave unexpectedly like this.

i think seeing the reflection on the road could trigger a fault alarm but the time a car passing me on the right, regardless how close it was, the car behaved the same way as it did when I was backing out of the driveway.

I’ve had the lane keeping assist off, too.

RCCA works by detecting cars passing by in the lane over as well. Whether it be pulling out of a parallel spot or driveway, the passing car does not need to be directly behind you. It is disabled separately from LKA in your instrument cluster menus. However, it is enabled every time you start the engine, so no way to turn RCCA off permanently.

Good to hear, thx. That was exac what I susp it was doing, stability control, but didn’t think it would do that when cars on the sides are detected. As long as it‘s not a bug I am ok with it.

It's a safety feature called: Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)*†
