• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Good evening everyone,

My 21’ Nightfall already has LED lights which aren’t bad, but I’ve definitely driven cars with more powerful lights.
Has anyone found any way of increasing the output of these bulbs or perhaps replacing them with more powerful ones?

Thanks

There are some pretty exhaustive post here on this subject with many opinions and perspectives. The answers to your question is yes and yes but with differing opinions on whats best.

I’m curious what you’re referring to.

There are many threads released to aftermarket LED bulbs for cars that came with factory halogen units.

There is one very long thread where some have endeavored to make the necessary wiring hacks to take out their factory halogen unit and replace it with the factory LED unit.

But there is nothing about upgrading the factory LED system because it can’t be upgraded. They aren’t “bulbs,” they are fully-integrated units. All you can do is make sure they are aimed properly… they are more than sufficiently bright.

The only way to “upgrade” the factory LED lights would be to replace the entire headlight system with something aftermarket, and there isn’t anything to replace it with.

Assumed this was with the conventional lights that had LED's. Also based on the thoughts that I have never heard complaints about the standard LED's being too dim! Thanks for the correction.

The OP has an SX, which has the factory LED system. There is nothing better than that for these cars.

Didn't nightfall come on EX also?

It did, and it required the EX Premium package that adds LED headlights.

Every Nightfall, whether EX, SX, or SX with Prestige package, has the exact same factory LED headlight system.

So how do you know its an SX and not an EX with the premium package? There was nothing in the original post stating it was an SX. (Ok, I'm just messing with you! ;) ) Watching too many court room drama's!

Good morning,

So to be more specific my SX came with factory LED's however, as far as LED's go they're not the most powerful,(at least not compared to other cars I've driven). So I'm curious if there are higher powered bulbs that could be used in this case. There's nothing I can't deal with I'm just curious if there's any way to improve the existing setup

Thank you

I know exactly what you were asking and I’ve stated several times there’s nothing you can do other than make sure your lights are aimed properly.

In that post you quoted, I was replying to someone else who was referencing other threads where people have upgraded their halogen setup; I clarified that none of those would apply to your car.

On the note of headlights being aimed properly, does anyone have an image of what their high beams look like at night? Mine appear to be aimed to close to the car and not far enough into the distance..

TIA
