• THIS SECTION IS ONLY FOR DISCUSSIONS RELATING TO BUYING A TELLURIDE. PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT SECTION FOR POSTING MESSAGES ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN BUYING A TELLURIDE. THANK YOU!

  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Failcat down?

Is there any reason you wouldn't make this an open source or community site? Then you're not locked into work that may not keep your interest for long, and others who wish to contribute can do so. Seems like a win-win opportunity.

yeah. this has cost me a bit of money and time and i have got nothing for it, so i am not really _that_ sorry; but a series of unfortunate events lead to most of my effort to bring it up with the python code supplied being wasted, and my having more pressing things to address. that said, i really do apologize and have been sitting with a bit of guilt over the thing being dead.

i decided that i was going to bring it up from scratch so I understood the software better and so i'd be able to more easily add features in the future.

i also used the opportunity to learn something new (cloud flareworkers, and rust on wasm), and also made the unfortunate (for you guys desperately waiting) to use some alpha stuff that has sent me on my tangents as there are bugs in the toolchain.

in any case, scraping is back online, and you should see vins trickling in.

i am also now storing window stickers as pdfs, and will open those up after the scraping is caught up.

i won't ask for any money until it is something i consider to be a reasonable piece of software, but that time should hopefully be approaching.
two main approaches i see are community donation based; the other would be membership based.
if i do go the membership path, at least one feature i'd put behind the paywall is to be notified of new VINs that match some filter criteria.
but, i am more than happy to keep it wide open if folks want to chip in for the sake of keeping it this way.
I for one am grateful for the work you have put into this! Thank you!

it is open source. the hard part is keeping it up and alive and maintained

old version here: GitHub - gdoteof/vin-lookup: Query Car Information (at least Tellurides)

new versions are also in that profile, most of it is here:

but, someone has to administer the servers, or pay the bills, and update things, and patch things. there are hundreds of other open source projects to do similar stuff; its not really the like having access to the code does much at all

How do dealerships track custom order
Progress? Do they have their own private website?

Is this something I can run locally?

Currently there is no search or filter function, correct? Wasn't sure if my browser settings were interfering with something.

Yeah doesn’t seem like you can filter through the dealership codes! Just sat there clicking through hundreds of pages lol

Any chance to make the "per page" a huge number so people can download and sort?

I'd like to sort by date. I want to know what's the newest.
If u can sort by dealer, it’ll be easier a much much shorter list. U don’t care about cars being made for a a dealership in Arizona? Or Vermont??

the "serial id" is the determiner of what is the latest, it seems to me. every once in a while an old vin will pop up.

one thing i wanted to not publish super wide, but let you guys know:

if you go there, it will "look for" the vin after the latest one the site knows about. if it gives a number, that means it found one. if it says null, tha tmeans its probably at the end of the list. but if you are itching, you can always hit that url and you might be able to find one between jobs.
i will add a dealer sort shortly
