• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I’m a proud owner of the new Telluride and recently shared not one thing about this vehicle I do not like. Sadly... I must report an incident of this past week that frightened me with the smart cruise control.

I followed behind a vehicle planning to turn ( non interstate travel) using safe speed and distance and did not need to release the cruise as the car in front of me made a safe exit from the highway. My vehicle made a complete and sudden stop and left me no control with brake or steering wheel. The car behind me was alert and avoided me or there would have been a rear crash due to the smart cruise system.
Have there been any other reports as such?

Are you trying to say that you were traveling behind a car with the intention to maintain speed and squeeze by the exiting car as it was merging to the offramp?

If so, it is known that SCC will react ealier for breaking than some are comfortable with. It is possible to set SCC reaction time to faster or slower in the instrument cluster menu.

Best way to avoid having the SCC breaking at all when intending to switch lanes is to switch lanes a lot earlier than you normally would to avoid slowing down. This would probably be the same recommendation if you are traveling behind a car that is slowing down to exit at an offramp.
