• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... This is probably a dumb question but is the difference beteeen the illuminated and standard door sills is the Telluride name ( besides that one is illuminated and one isn’t) ? I keep seeing illuminated ones with the ‘Ride name and the base without, mine has the ‘Ride name but it’s doesn’t illuminate. Sorry for the dumb question, but I am going to purchase the illumination kit and I need to know what I already have, Thanks

There have been many threads that discuss this but none that give a total breakdown of the option. One question I have is if the light only comes on when the driver's door is opened...or if the passenger side lights up when just the passenger door is open. I posed the question to @Wee who had said he had them installed on his Telluride but hadn't heard back. Maybe @Wee could post some pictures and answer folks questions here.

Please and thank you.

Ok Thanks, mine look like they are illuminated but I have never seen them light up, I would like to know before I take it to the dealership

hi @Larz20Ride & @MarcinTexas , i have the illuminated sills & can confirm the below:
- they do look just like standard SX sills, but the letters & lines are actually cut outs & are back lit
- they light when each of the front doors is opened
- they are front only, rears stay as standard & are not lit
PS we love them

This was a factory installed option on my vehicle, it was not installed post delivery by the dealer. Only the front doors have lighted scuff plates, the rear doors are just steel plates with no illumination.

The driver side door DOES NOT need to be open for the passenger side to light up. That wouldn't even make sense and I've never seen that on any vehicle that has lighted scuff/sill plates. Have you ever seen that before? On any Lexus, Mercedes, Cadilac, BMW, etc.. I have ever been in I have never seen it where the driver door needed to be open for illumination.

Someone on another thread said they had heard they only worked when the driver's door was open and I wanted to confirm as I too have them added to my factory build order. I agree - these are so slick. Glad they are offered on the Telluride and in my opinion - complete the SX Prestige package. Thanks for posting the pictures!!

Thanks! That is what I was needing to know, now I know why mine are not lighting up!

Just checked my lighted scuff plate function. Passenger door scuff plate will illuminate regardless of driver door open / closed. position.
Enjoy the ride
