• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I purchased a 2020 Telluride on August 7, and immediately had problems with the Forward Collision Warning (FCW) misfiring. This occurred both at reasonable local speeds (i.e., 20-40 mph) as well as at highway speeds in excess of 70 mph (well above the supposed 50 mph operational limit), all without any threat of collision. I took the vehicle back to the dealership for the issue to be investigated, the dealership recalibrated the system and, although I was told it was fixed, it misfired again within five minutes after picking up the vehicle after service. It has now been with the dealership for an additional 14 days, and neither the dealership nor apparently Kia's engineering department has any idea how to fix the issue.

Has anyone else experienced a malfunction of this nature?

I have a 1019 Kia Nero with about 5000 miles on it and the FCW has been going off while stopped in traffic at stop lights, The dealer does not know what to do and a service field rep says. that's just the way it is. If it goes off when it should not be going off how do I know it will work when it is needed?

My Tellruide is now doing the same thing. car is almost unsafe to drive...each time I pass a car - the beep and brakes kick in.....will need to bring it in to dealership ASAP....,car is only 6 weeks old with 3000km on it in Toronto.

I just uploaded it to YouTube....
Search "Telluride Front Collision Malfunction "

Yep, that looks like a malfunction alright. Tweet Kia USA and Kia Canada with that. Get a good hashtag...

Hey, that is exactly what was happening to mine. Cars on left stopped(usually waiting to make a left turn) and I am travelling straight when for no reason my car was braking. Did you post on the "forward collision assist malfunction" thread also?

I purchased my brand new 2020 Telluride in June of 2020 and we have had nothing but problems with our FCW misfiring since. We have had it back to the dealership 6 times, currently there now. They have recalibrated it, replaced the camera, wiring harness and it is now throwing off codes that there is a communication error happening. We are now at this point requesting a new one but scared we will have the same problems. They told us that they have not encountered these problems with any of the Tellurides before, but clearly they have. I have never been more disappointed with a vehicle before!

Please continue to update as we are having a similar experience. I am uncertain what to expect as a resolution. I am almost hesitant to post details on this forum in case it comes to litigation.

My 2021 S has 2,700 miles on it. When I drove it today, about five minutes down the road all the proximity warnings went off. Apparently I was about to hit all sorts of things in every direction. Forward collision, blind spot warning, lane assist, and the Master Warning light. Lane Assist button had no affect. Turned it off and when I started it again all the warnings went off a few minutes in. I guess if it continues I'll need to take it in. The more stuff you have on a car the more there is to go wrong!
I just posted this Crash Alert! the other day. My 2021 has started acting up with the collision warnings.

Has any of you taken your vehicle to the dealer? Why does litigation have to come up before a dealer has a chance to fix the problem?

Safety system activated spontaneously while at the dealer and a technician had an accident with our car. He told my wife that it had a couple scratches that they would fix. I called later and another service technician advised me that he heard something about the incident and that our back windshield had been blown out when tech was backing up and hit a fence when the brakes malfunctioned. I raced to dealership and was told on the way that the general manager was gone for the day after being on hold. A "couple" scratches were actually a deep dent, a big gouge in paint, and they had already replaced the windshield as evidenced by tape and spacers. They misinformed us and minimized damage. Also: I popped my head in showroom and asked for GM by name and he identified himself among a group of gentlemen standing around shooting the breeze. He did not provide any insight and either feigned ignorance or was consciously unwilling/unable to provide insight.
And other details concerning our situation that are alarming and anxiety-inducing, besides the fact that my wife and four kids could have been in an accident on the highway instead of a service technician in a lot. I am giving the dealer every chance to resolve this issue, but my confidence is shaken and I am considering any/all options for recourse if necessary.

Holy cow.

Glad I found this forum! I have a 2021 model and the “check forward collision..” and “check high beam” alert came on. In conjunction my heads up display is not properly working (very dim- even on highest brightness). When I called the dealership about the alerts they advised sun glare, or fog can mess with the sensors causing the alerts. Additionally, if the alert font is yellow it’s ok, but if it’s red it’s broken. I’ve used my car at least 5x through the day into the night since my first alert- it’s still there. I’m having a hard time believing this is related to glare or fog!

to be continued..

Curious how everyone else made out

I have this problem my 2021 Telluride only has 6666. I got in my ride and turned it on and the screen said Front Collision whatever. So I start driving then a sudden thump . Take it to the dealer they say nothing. My husband's gets home and it does the same thing. Very disappointing

Our 2021 Telluride is also having Forward Collision Assist issues. It randomly says the radar is blocked then the message disappears. It also beeps as if there is about to be a collision when there is not and automatically brakes. We nearly got killed on the highway from the braking. The dealer said they found no error codes and that I might try getting a car wash. Well, I did that and it is still happening. Now the dealer says they need the issue recreated at the dealership so that they can get a code to send to KIA international. I understand that they have no idea what the problem is but it is dangerous to drive with this. I have manually turned the system off every time I start the car but who wants to have to do that and frankly I feel like the dealership could put a little more effort into trying to fix the issue. I can't recreate the issue while parked at the dealership.

I have a Telluride 2021 and currently having the same FCA problem. I just came back from the dealer and was told that the bracket that holds the bumper sensor is bent and facing downwards. They compared the sensors bracket to other Tellurides in the lot and that is how they identified the problem. I will be returning in 2 weeks because they will order the replacement bracket. I will post back, if I remember, once the bracket is installed.
