Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Another shout out to Patrick at Carolina Kia in High Point. He has placed my 2022 order and has been transparent and responsive to my many questions over the past few days! Given how crazy it must have been just opening up for placing these orders - I felt it was worthy of another shoutout.

If anyone decides to buy there, they are charging $600 over MSRP but there are some other dealer perks and proximity was best for me. Feel free to say Christy Z recommended or any others who in prior posts recommended him to me.

I can recommend Lou Fusz KIA of St. Louis. After listening to $5,000.00 over MSRP expectations in south Texas and Arkansas, my wife made numerous calls around Arkansas and Missouri, discovering that the cars listed on dealer websites were ususally already sold. When she called Lou Fusz KIA, her persistence was rewarded. Kris Portnoy explained that he could order a Telluride. With two more phone calls he explained the order process, helped us with color choices by taking pictures of Everlasting Silver, discussed financing and price, and placed our order. My initial concern over sealing the deal with a verbal agreement proved to be needless worry; there were no surprises, the April 9 order was included among the last 2021's and the car arrived in late May. There were no surprises nor high pressure at the dealership either: the car was prepped, finance quickly got purchase papers in order, vehicle features were explained, and we were on our way in about an hour and a half.

Hi TellYah,

I am just outside Raleigh (in Apex) and looking to order a bare SX (FWD) in Sangria. Is the $600 bump the dealer doc fee, or is there a $600 bump + a $600 doc fee?

Thanks!

It was $600 market demand + $699 doc fees. Since I backed out of a deposit on a 2021 car in Charlotte with $5k market demand + $899 doc fee, I am still happy with my decision.

You may be able to find another dealership with no market demand up-charge but, I am comfortable with my choice and have been happy working with Patrick so far

After I placed my order I saw two other forum members recommended -Hendricks Kia of Cary NC with no market demand charge - so @MSRP - which would be a better deal than mine. I decided not to make any move away from my order but, that might be another dealership to check out.

Hendricks Kia is around the corner from me, so likely going there. Thanks!

A lot of talk about Hendricks Kia in Cary, NC. I placed an order late March for a SX non prestige with tow at MSRP plus $600 doc fee, and just got the call this morning that my order was included in their allocation for the month and that I should receive a vin number tomorrow. Vehicle should arrive late June or sometime July as part of the first round of 2022 models they receive.

That should put it right in the 16-20 week estimate when I originally placed the order. Dealer has been highly responsive throughout the process, and the comments from others on this thread give me peace of mind that wrapping up the process with them will be as smooth as it has been up to this point. So far, so good!

I ordered mine from there at msrp.
Which salesman did you use? We ordered from them 3/29, communication hasn't been good. Apparently they have a brand new sales manager too, he didn't even seem to understand how KIA handles its allotments. He was supposed to get in contact with Kia on Friday and give me a call back to try to see where we are at in terms of build and still hasn't reached back out. I can't get any of them to give me a total number of orders in front of us either.

I used Aurora, this doesn’t sound so good, like I should have ordered from another dealer. They can’t tell me where I am and they basically said they wouldn’t know until they got the invoice in.

We used Grant. I went there because it was local, I know the detail manager and they were selling at MSRP. Regretting putting the non refundable deposit down as they definitely do not seem organized. Since we ordered a 21' and they couldn't deliver said vehicle, if they can't give me some sort of information by the end of the week I am contemplating cancelling the order and attempting to get our deposit back. We ordered a GWP SX.

Your deposit was non refundable?

Unfortunately yup, before we knew any better, and they said 8-12 weeks order to delivery at the time so wasn't too worried about it. But, were on week 10 and they can't even give me a clue to where we are in line, except there are several in front of us.

Aww man sorry to hear. I about to be on week 8. I may have to order from a high volume dealer instead.

Not sure how to take all this info. I hear, highly responsive, and highly disorganized in the same thread. I guess it is a crap shoot.

Guess I’ll find out soon. I’m only coming up on the 2 month mark.

Auto Express Kia outside of Erie, PA was a TOP NOTCH dealer. They were super easy to work with, sold at MSRP, and were always in communication. I worked with Don and would gladly drive from GA to PA again, just to give them my business!!

Left Friday night and picked up 2021 SX-P NF Bblack Copper Dune on Saturday evening.

Congrats! I drove my Telly from Muncie, IN home to NC last fall. Never enjoyed a 12 hour drive more! You will love the Black Copper/Nappa Dune combination! I get so many stares and thumbs up from other drivers.. I've got the tan Smartliners in mine and they match the Nappa Dune leather so perfedtly. They tie the whole "black and tan" thing in so well together.. And I love the way the Smartliner cover is one solid mat that covers the second and third row floors with a piece covering the middle between the Captain's chairs too..(It's an "I" shaped mat) Complete coverage for my floors.

pudge,

I am trying to be crystal clear. You ordered from Hendrick's Kia in Cary, NC? That is the dealer I am feeling out as they are within 10 miles of me.

Thanks!

I’m not who you are addressing, but I can vouch for Hendrick Kia in Cary. Ordered SX FWD on 3/20 with $1k refundable deposit at MSRP, was told 16-20 weeks, great communication from the sales person I’ve been working with since then, and just got my vin number yesterday for a 2022 with a tentative 6/19 delivery. So far they have underpromised and over delivered. Can’t say anything negative about them so far. Always super responsive with my questions and very knowledgeable and up front about any info they have. Definitely worth checking out.

I got my SX Prestige NF from Dutchess Kia in NY. 1.5 hour away from NYC where I live but we only had to go there to pick up the car. Chris sent me the info I needed and they charge MSRP which in the tri state area is one of the rare ones to do so. When I called them end of April, they were expecting the exact car I wanted to arrive mid June, so I made a deposit right away. The car came in a little bit early and we picked it up June 8. I had been looking for the SX Prestige in Ebony and black interior since 2019, every time I called a dealer they were sold even before hitting the lot or they were charging over $60,000! Dutchess Kia will also place an order for you, unlike other dealers that I talked to. The process was pretty smooth, except that they don't take large amounts on credit cards, which is weird to me because in Manhattan it's not an issue to use a credit card to buy a car! So, instead we had to finance a small part of the cost, which we plan on paying off within the first 3 months, as it is the minimum of time to have the loan. I know the deanship makes money with financing too so even better for them! Good luck on your research and getting the car you want!
