Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

1. Great Dealership & sales representative: Ed Voyles Kia, Chamblee (Atlanta) GA. Alan Griffitt was our sales rep and he could not have been more pleasant and straight forward. And he walked the walk: MSRP was the promise and MSRP is what the Purchase Agreement said. That was $49,875.00. There was a dealer Administrative Fee of $795.00, so MSRP Including Options was $51,010.00. Everything else was taxes / title fees to Georgia or options we either purchased or declined. Zero pressure from Business Manager Alan Ratliff to buy addtional warranties or coverages, he did a good job of highlighting the pros and cons of each, which I will share with anyone who is considering them. And, like Alan Griffitt, Adam Ratliff could not have been more pleasant.

2. Breakdown from the window MSRP sticker on our 2022 SX AWD GWP NP Tow: MSRP was $44,590. Inland Freight and Handling is $1,225.00. GWP $495.00, Nightfall $1,395.00. Prestige $2,300.00. Towing Package w Self Leveling Rear Suspension $795.00. Carpeted Floor Mats $210.00. Total $51,010.00. Financing option we liked best was 1.90% for 60 months (requires a stout FICO).

3. Time from order to delivery: Order placed March 27, $2,000.00 deposit charged March 29, vehicle arrived at dealership June 30.

4. Markups - Alan was clear on this: if we had changed our mind, they would have refunded the $2,000.00 deposit, added $10,000 to the window sticker, put it on the floor and waited. I doubt it would still be there.

5. Thoughts on price paid / value received - The SX AWD delivers value for the $$. The Tow Package is a bargain. The Nightfall and Prestige packages are nice, but I would not describe either as a bargain or a great value for the cost the factory charges. That said, I don't know of another vehicle on the market for

And yes, it's a terrific car. My wife likes it better than her 2017 Lexus RX 350 (also a terrific car). I do, too.

@arckal we should try and get a discount if we both buy at same time. I'm in the Columbus market too. If you talk to the salesman see if there would be any additional discount for us if we did that! I'm trying to get close to $40,000 for SX Prestige or as close as I can get.
How is that possible when you have the invoice of a prestige to be 47,800( the INVOICE). What is your thought process in this? People always talk about the sales person being sleezy or dishonest but ive seen it on both sides.. Again, KIA is not like other manufactures . There is not a mark up with all this room to move. And who in their right mind would sell a car to lose money. would you?

Holdback, volume discount, and I’m sure some other things that gen pop doesn’t know about.

Welcome to the forum fellow salesman. Your responding to a message from 2019 when they first came out

WHY are you still replying to 2019 posts? Seriously. If you're here to sell cars, get an Authorized Dealer badge. Quit whining about invoice price.

started but didn't finish a sentence: "That said, I don't know of another vehicle on the market in the Telluride's price range that is comparable". It'll be interesting to see if demand cools down in the event that dealers put the starting ask of loaded SX's at $65K. I was quoted above that by KIA of St. Augustine ($15K markup)

Highly recommend Berwyn Kia (outside of Chicago, IL)! I ordered through one of the sales managers, Vince Moreno, at MSRP with no dealer add ons. Guillermo Villasana was the sales consultant who took me through the buying process. They were upfront and easy to get ahold of the entire process. I didn't feel pressured to tack on anything additional when placing my order, nor while completing the sales paperwork. Definitely give them a call if you're looking to order at MSRP!

I just ordered my SX Prestige, Nightfall Wolf/Dune from @Helen Brouillette at Fort Bend Kia thanks to recommendations here. I drove to the dealership since I had some free time and wanted to meet her in person. The whole staff at Fort Bend Kia was amazing! I have never walked into a dealership that was so relaxed before. Smiles (REAL) on faces, people happy to chat with you about your day, etc.

The details:
$500 fully refundable deposit (for any reason)
NO markup above MSRP
NO additional items/services required to purchase
NO stipulation on financing or trade ins

I didn't even have to buy floor mats. (y)(y)

The downside - they are consistently quoting 6 month turnaround, which is more than I would like. It's understandable though, given that their nearest competitor is Westside Kia, with $10k markups and salesmen telling customers that Kia hasn't been accepting orders since early 2020.

Six (6) months (up to 8 months) is what I was told when I picked up my car from Ed Voyles Chamblee / Atlanta July 3. Pretty crazy. Hope you love yours the way we are loving ours.

Curious about Berwyn as well. Might you detail your: Build (Model, Drivetrain, options, etc.)?, order date?, wait time?, fees?, etc.

Thanks!

I did an SX Prestige AWD, Towing, Nightfall. They told me I got lucky in terms of timing - I ordered mid-April and my 2021 arrived on the lot July 2. When I ordered, I think they told me to expect 3-5 months, but it would likely be about 4. They do a $500 refundable deposit. Doc fees were $303.60. No dealer add on fees. I came with my own financing and they didn't give me a hard time.

Good for you @Awibbybef! Nicely done...

That all sounds quite reasonable to me. Anyone there in particular (Sales, Gen. Mgr., Internet Sales Mgr.) that you liked & would recommend?

And, just b'c I'm curious as to everyone's color combo's (taste preferences)....how'd she look??

Dutchess Kia Poughkeepsie New York

Just picked up my 22 black nightfall Telluride SX - and boy she is beautiful!

This is our first Kia and we went to this dealer based on recommendations from this group. They were spot on and we were treated very well.

I live in Massachusetts and started to communicate with dealers throughout the region only to find out many were jacking the prices

I talked to Dan Gemmel a sales person at Duchess and he promised me that he worked for a fair dealership and he would make sure I was well taken care of and he did not lie.

I never went to the dealership prior to yesterday when I picked up the car everything was handled by phone and email it was done perfect and I was treated very well.

They honored MSRP and gave me I trade in for my vehicle without even seeing it unfortunately it was a little bit lower then I would’ve liked but they were so fair on the price of the telluride I did not complain.

When I arrived he spent over an hour with my wife and I going over the specifics of the vehicle. I highly recommend the dealership and the sales person. Call today if you’re in the area and you want to Telluride.

Sticker on this vehicle was $52,215 and that’s what I paid.

I’d be happy to share any more information about my experience with you, thanks to this group and everyone for their advice along the way.

Was between highlander or a telluride. Just so happened 2 S showed up on a lot yesterday morning. Arranged a call with David from Kia of Dartmouth,MA for a test drive. Wife immediately fell in love with it. Msrp for glacier white S was around 39k, mark up 3500. Negotiated a bit with trade in and sizable down payment and drove off with a new telly within 4 hours thinking it was going to be just a kick the tires day. Happy wife happy life.

First off -- thank you to the awesome resources here. It's totally nutty that it's so challenging to buy a Telluride at MSRP right now, but it's invaluable to have your input.

I've been monitoring various dealerships on Failcat here in Minnesota, but ... it was a challenge. There were few vehicles available and there seemed to be a difference from metro-area dealerships that generally only took orders (with a 6 to 8 month wait) and those which knew their vehicles over the next couple months and basically reserved them on a cash-deposit basis. I needed a Telluride in September, when I go back to work in the office for some of the week.

I had the day off today, so I thought I'd stop in to the oldest Kia dealership in Minnesota -- Barnett Kia in White Bear Lake. Failcat had a black exterior/interior S trim arriving soon, so I was going to ask them questions about that and purchasing a Telluride more generally. 40 minutes later, I had financing and money down on a S trim model that was only $600 above MSRP (though MSRP seems to fluctuate based on the Kia website and other information ...)

The dealership salesfolk had a printed-out list of models that they knew about, including those which had not been reserved (all through September). They had VINs on most of them, and had trim, color, and AWD info on them, too. That was enough for me. On each sale, the dealership required an approx $2k package: undercarriage paint/rust-proof, paint "shield," fancy floor mats from WeatherTech, and Windsheld Coating. These were done through local vendors; so it seemed somewhat legit despite being a requirement. Plus, most are helpful for our young daughters ...

Paid $2,000 down to reserve the car and sign an agreement. That goes toward the purchase price. Cash price was $39,705 for AWD. I probably could have gotten that down a grand or so, but I was under some time constraints today. Financing is set the day I receive the vehicle. Expected date is Sept 4. This was far better than the December dates promised here in the Minneapolis area.

Jealous! So....I'm assuming it's a 2022 S AWD. Those are really an unbelievable "value" now (with the upgrades they've made vs. 2021's). Would suit my needs for now, and save thousands on bells/whistles I WANT but don't "NEED".

Curious about the new "Syntex" Leatherette though (vs. the "Sofino"). Did you get Black or Gray? I saw the black seats @ the dealership in Tupelo--and it truly looked and felt great. Have looked everywhere for good photos/reviews of the Gray Syntex S interior, all to no avail! Would have to get gray--b/c this Mississippi heat just ain't fittin' for black interior!

Again, congrats on your ride...

Good for you @chris_hhh! I bet you end up getting it sooner...

On that "printed-out list"--did you happen to get a copy? How many of their unreserved allocations were--S vs. EX vs. SX?? (if you don't mind sharing those details?) My Highlander Hybrid just passed 250k mi., & I really HAVE to get into another vehicle...thanks in advance!!

No, I didn't get a copy -- but it definitely wasn't a secret, we walked through it car-by-car, which listed trim, model, interior/exterior color, etc. Maybe surprisingly, most were S or EX. There were more than a couple EX at MSRP available around the Sept 4 due date, and a couple S too.

Also, I should've noted: they walked through financing and ran through a dozen or so scenarios that I had (I was aiming for a certain amount each month). So, that was helpful. Considering the lot was basically empty due to demand, there was surprisingly little pressure.

Thanks!
Yes it's the black interior..very soft feel..we have a 2009 highlander sport with black leather and think it's not as comfortable as the Highlander but feels more snug..
Also looked into the higher end models and to be honest i think the S is an overall better value..unless you can pickup the ex without markup and then your in the same price range as a S with dealer markup.. regardless exited to see how this car performs..getting lots of head turns
