Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Congrats. Could you provide a little more detail on the differences in the driving experiences between the Telluride and the Palisade? Thanks.

Sure. The Pali drives/rides noticeably softer and is more isolated from the road (perhaps more sound-deadening materials). The H/K stereo also sounds brighter. I took the Pali on a 8-hour road trip last week and it drove like a dream.

The Telluride, IMHO, looks amazing and drives like SUVs that are considerably pricer (e.g., a Range Rover, which I once owned). The drive/ride is a bit firmer than the Pali, but I think that's great! The 2 vehicles have related but distinct personalities, which is why I own both of them!

Thanks. Interesting thoughts. I’ve seen several reviews that said the Telluride is actually the quieter of the two vehicles. And, as far as the audio system, I’ve also seen a couple that said the Palisade system was a bit better due to its “12 speakers” as opposed to the 10 in the Telluride. But the Harman/Kardon website implies that they are both the exact same “12 speaker” system. (Hyundai counts the subwoofer and amplifier as 2 additional “speakers”).

Never understood the Palisade hate among Telluride owners and vice-versa. The Palisade is also terrific, and had the Telluride never come out, I would be driving a Palisade without question right now. Enjoy the cars!

Greetings! New member here!

Yesterday I bought a '22 SX Prestige Nightfall from Southlake Kia in suburban Chicago. Dear Lord, I truly lucked out. I've been looking for a Telluride for several weeks. The dealerships within a 100 mile radius of my home typically have the Tellis sold before they arrive. But I checked Southlake's website on Fri. night and saw a newly-listed Telluride. So I took the risk and drove 75 miles to the dealership. I arrived at 7 am and saw it there. So I went to have a bit of breakfast and returned at 7:45 am hoping to catch an early-arriving salesperson. I did. Chris Lindzy was truly awesome -- friendly, transparent, and incredibly professional. He had to find out if it had been sold. No! Good news! I knew that all of the dealerships were charging above MSRP so the question was how much. The typical markup in Chicagoland is between 3k-10k. I've bought 30+ vehicles in my life and I'm proud to say that I've never paid anywhere near MSRP until recently. But this seems totally rational to me given the current situation. Supply and demand makes sense. I can always opt not to buy on the spot and perhaps order from someone charging at or below MSRP. So I negotiated and got what I think is a reasonable deal.

I really lucked out. The car had been at the dealership for less than 24h and wasn't spoken for. It's the dealership's first '22 and perhaps one of the first '22s in Chicagoland.

I'll also note that I bought a '21 Palisade Calligraphy earlier this month. So I own both! Although they look similar on paper, the driving experience is quite different. The Telluride is my everyday vehicle and the Pali is mostly for road trips. I paid MSRP for the Pali with no markup. I traded in a '19 X5 and obtained more than I paid for it! So on balance, I think everything worked out great!

Congrats looks great! Enjoy enjoy enjoy!!

I’m glad to hear things are going well for you with Parsons. We also ordered with Parsons, and I have been holding my full report until we pick up. Our car came in more than a week early while we are on vacation so we have a delayed pick up. But they have been super communicative and everyone we have worked with so far was been great. The new car sales manager did the same for us to be sure our car was one of the first 2022s to roll out since we’d been waiting so long. And they definitely knew the ins and outs of the 2022 transition and were on top of it. So they are plugged in on nuances of the Kia process for customers.

They are working to have all paperwork ready so we can be in and out of the dealership quickly to finalize the sale. I will update when all is said and done, but I definitely suggest anyone in DMV or North/Central VA look into them.
Hi Folks, I had actually reached out to Parsons in early May (5/14) based on a recommendation from this board. I was working with Sam, she said she would submit my order and get back with me. I didn't hear from her. So when I saw you guys' post about how fast they were, I reached out to her today for an update. She was super nice, but seemed very unsure of the process and timelines, and it seems my order from May may have never have been submitted, or either submitted and then sold to someone else. This VIN is almost exactly the build I submitted 5XYP5DHC4NG202766. So I sent her an email with VINs from failcat asking about units they should be getting and I'm waiting to hear back. Should I escalate? FYI, I did not put down a deposit, she told me one was not required.

Thoughts?

And if anyone is following me, I also have one on order at Safford Kia but they have a $2000 markup. If Parsons can get me one (@ MSRP) in 6-8wks, I will forgo the Safford order.

Keep me posted. Im trying to place an order with Parsons too. They are saying that they should have slots in July to order but the timing and process is very foggy.

I worked with Matt Henry at Parsons. After a couple of discussions, he took my order and passed it up to Brad, the sales manager. Brad walked me through the ordering process to be sure everything was correct, answered a few configuration questions along the way, and submitted the order to WebDCS [aka KDealer] on the spot on 14 June. You might want to talk to Brad first up given you were under the impression that you had placed an order in May. My car was taken up in KFOS and has an ETA of 18 July.

My process was to speak with Sam in February to place the order. She gave me an estimate of 4-6 months, which is longer than it seems many people are quoted right now. She would not give me an exact date and said it really varies based on model ordered. I had to ask for a copy of the order confirmation to be emailed to me - did not seem to be something they normally did. She told me that all their allocations go toward orders. She also said that rarely someone can’t wait and does not want the car they ordered, so she would call if something close came available sooner. I then followed both the Parsons website and failcat and called if I saw something. Once she knew I was “motivated” she would also reach out. Though, there wasn’t anything close enough. Once the MY switchover approached, I called to confirm all was in order and we were in the queue still. Sam was busy, so I was transferred to the new car sales manager when I explained the reason for my call. He quickly found my order in his folder but also said that he had a process lined up to make sure a car that matched my specs was built as one of the first 2022s since I had been waiting since February. He is the one who manages the order process.

To be honest, I have been surprised at those who are getting ETAs within 6-8 weeks of placing orders after I have been waiting this long. I don’t know if the shorter wait is the new normal or a temporary increase. I think the numbers and process may seem “foggy” because dealers don’t actually know their monthly allocation until just before KFOS opens. I had more empathy toward the salespeople and order managers when I understood the process from reading here extensively.

I hope that helps!

what other fees did you pay? Was their destination fee and another “dealership fee”?
I am definitely envious. I spoke with Patrick today and he gave me renewed faith in car salespersons.

I DO love a success story. Congratulations.

I purchased my Telluride S FWD from Paramount Kia of Asheville from Michael Cole. It was an awesome experience. I live in SC and had not-so-good experiences at the two local Kia dealers. I was going to order the Everlasting Silver through my local Kia, but they wanted a NR $1K down, $1999 markup over MSRP and $499 for an ELO GPS that they stated was mandatory.

However, I told them I would need to confirm my rate and financing with my bank before I give them $1000. I went home to do research and found the exact car I wanted in Asheville, NC. I sent a message online and within 10 minutes, Michael reached out to me. This was a Saturday. I went back and forth with him regarding price after the first quote he sent me, but got it down to a price that I was OK with. They waited for me while I secured financing from my CU and when I explained that it was hard for me to find someone to drive me there to pick up the vehicle, Michael came to SC and picked me up. I was in the dealership for about 10 minutes signing paper and spent about 10 minutes with the product specialist, Alisha, going over the car's features. I was on the road about 5 minutes after that.

If I could, I would drive the 2 and a half hours just to get my oil changed there.
Unfortunately, we had a different experience. The sales staff were extremely polite, however, like most dealerships, they are asking a substantial markup on their Tellurides.

Will do. I just submitted my order last week.
I placed an order at MSRP with Nationwide on 5/3, ETA is currently 7/15.

Lawrence KIA: They were fantastic! They are the number one volume dealer in their District, yet they treated me like I was the only customer that day.

1. I received a GREAT price! No haggling nonsense, just a GREAT price via email conversation.
2. We ordered via $250 down in mid-February, and I took possession on June 10th.

I flew out from Portland, OR, arrived at MCI and Harvey picked me up from the dealership and drove me back (great guy). I had completed all the paperwork via digital forms, so only had to do a few inspection approval paperwork while there. The sales person assigned to me was great. He knew all about the vehicle, showed some features even I didn't know about (like the app which controls remote start and temperature and all that via iPhone app - sweet!).

I then hit a Chipotle for dinner. Drove 3 hours to Lincoln, and then made it from Lincoln, NB to Tigard, OR in two-days. Never was my back sore or legs tired, nothing! If my hands needed a break, HDA tech is awesome for that!

And of course, if you are a fair distance from Lawrence KIA and don't want to drive, you can arrange to have it shipped. That was my first option, but since February shipping costs have skyrocketed due to fuel costs and a hot shipping market. So I saved about $1k and just flew out and drove it home.

If you call or email them, as for Chris P. and tell them "Peter Kirkride" of Tigard, OR sent you! AKA - Mark.

Any questions let me know!
May I ask who you dealt with at Lawrence?

UPDATE: Yesterday, 29 June, my EX AWD PRE & TOW appeared in KFOS. I now have a VIN and the actual Monroney window sticker for my own car. THis is getting REAl!

Durango Kia in CO is selling at MSRP. I talked to James and he’s incredibly helpful. I told him I’d be sending people his way.

Does anyone know what the 2022 MSRP's are by trim level?
