• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Having a hard time justifying the price.

Almost all the dealers I've contacted in Souther California (San Diego up to Orange County) are charging over MSRP. It's hard to find a dealer that won't do it:(

Bro, I can send you the girl who helped us in Irvine. I literally did everything over text. Easy experience and even better price. I drove up, paid, signed and drove away.

I'm in San Diego, we weren't even in the market for a car. My friend bought the palisade and got our wheels turning. We had a paid off 2016 4runner that was bad ass looking and had 19,000 miles on it. We had been wanting a range rover but I couldnt get past the unreliability of the brand. When we saw the Telluride, we knew we wanted it. Kia of national city wanted 10k over and finally proposed I paid 87k for one (not a joke). I went north to Irvine. I paid 43500 for a white sx with black interior. We dont regret buying this thing as of yet. I have had many cars, this thing is sick!
Wow. When did you get the car? I tried Irvine a couple weeks ago and they were charging way over msrp also. Kia Chula Vista and national city are a joke. Ordered mine through Kia El Cajon and am still waiting. They look badass..that’s what’s so frustrating about this.

Please do. Someone else on the forum told me to go to San Bernardino and I emailed them today and the same BS....2-5k over msrp.

Vehicle still isn’t here. They told me it should be here next week. Also asked them about the extra $1800 worth of add ons they were going to charge me. They’re still going to add it! I’m pretty sure I’m not going to pick up the car after hearing this. I refuse to pay this out of principle. Probably going to pick up a one year used Audi or Volvo for a couple of years and wait out this craziness. The markups are so bad in Southern California.
Bro!!! Go to Kia of Irvine and talk to Annie!!! She had a shitload of them and when the exact t car I had sold, she immediately found me another! I'm not kidding when I tell you that I didnt get anything added on and even had the tow package added on because they sold the other white SX and no extra charge! One hour drive to Irvine.

Here it is. I was going through the same BS but when things get going, I wont give up until I get my way. This purchase was hard and I cant believe it was for a Kia but we got it at the price we felt was fair. I would have loved to have paid 41500 but 43500 is perfect with current BS.

Wow thanks dude. I’m gonna call her tomorrow. Hopefully she comes through cause my wife is on my ass lol. Ball Kia is the worst dealership ever. They think they’re selling a Lamborghini or something. Idiots.

Did you get any incentives or was it just $2k off the msrp?

Well said, the Pilot has a proven track record. Drive safe.

Well, except the ones equipped w/ the ZF 9 spd AT.

The ZF in the 2019MY Pilots apparently shift smoother, but reliability is still up in the air.

Ya'll need to realize that the marked up price is nothing more than an offer to sell at that price.

Do not let that dissuade you from pursuing an acquisition at the price you are willing to pay.

Yes, it will likely be a long frustrating process, but you will win most of the time. The more time a dealer invests into your deal, the more likely you will get close to your price.

true and true. though ZF makes a great transmission, might be softwear in transmission computer. toyota's 8 speed in the Highlander drew similar complaints in 2017. Consumer Reports did not care for either one.

Looked extensively at the MDX. I have been offered the Hybrid SH-AWD with Advance package for $13,000 off MSRP, bringing it down to $48,000. More HP, better handling, 26 mpg city/27 hwy, equivalent leather quality, just not as much space and older styling. Actually like the MDX headlights better. Resale on the Acura is good, unknown on Kia. SX with prestige was ordered a month ago, but looking at a 3 to 4 month wait. Kia has definitely gotten their attention, and competition in pricing is making it a tough decision.

Hello,
I have a Gravity Gray SX coming in any day now (San Diego) and I am having second thoughts about paying MSRP plus an $1800 package the dealer wants to add. We're now talking a little over $50k for a Kia! I know the reviews are great but my wife and I are seriously thinking about getting an Acura MDX SH-AWD for almost the same exact price. It's not as sexy as the Telluride but I've always heard that you should't buy a car off of emotion. The economics of this car are terrible! Am I crazy?
I was in the same position 3 months ago. I went ahead and never have second guessed the decision. The car is several thousand dollars underpriced. It replaces a Mercedes wagon and I could not be happier

Just an FYI...you don't have to wait 6 months to pay it off. They can't come and collect the rebate for financing after you have signed the paperwork. The dealer probably told you that because if you pay it of before 3 months, then kia finance won't pay the dealer. So the dealer loses out, not you.

2nd, the Telluride is made here in Georgia, so parts availability with no South Korea shouldn't be a problem but it would be a problem for me with the Stinger.

Yes the Telluride is made in Georgia , but somewhere over 50% of the parts are imported from S. Korea so it COULD be a problem.

49% of the parts are from South Korea, and 51% are from the USA.
I think Kia does it this way for political reasons...so it is an “American” car. This way it won’t pop up on Trump’s radar. Who needs that kind of hassle...haha.

How does 26 city/27 hwy work?

The MDX is on a dated body style from 2014, it had a minor refresh in 2107 and will be completely re done this year for the 2021 model. Wait 6 months if you plan on doing an MDX, resale will drop with the new model coming out. Acura has a lot more margin (and rebates) than Kia hence the discounting and the fact that the MDX Is not a hot seller right now (the new one will be)

Yes - the MDX is a very old design (despite the minor refresh in 2017. When the new one is introduced later this year - prices on the old body style will drop dramatically. Especially with the Genesis GV80 also coming out. The Acura MDX on the low end will get pressure from the Palisade and Telluride and on the high end from the GV80. Acura has lost its way and hasn't really introduced anything ground breaking in years. Yeah - they have the over priced NSX...but for their mainstream cars - they are old and dated. The new MDX will see a huge price jump and honestly - I think the Telluride still looks better. And yes...I am voting with my pocket book. I have an AWD Gravity Grey SX-P with the tow package on order.
