• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hear hear for the HUD

I concure, restarting your engine 600x a week vs 30x a week, and people tell me there's no accelerated wear?

i hate it...take an extra second to get the car moving for minimal fuel savings...i wouldn't have put it in if the button remembered the setting it was last left on...wear and tear on starter...i hear cars that have this feature and they start sounding worse as time goes on each time they start

Something to note. If you wear really good blue blocking type sun glasses you may not be able to read the hud. I bought some Maui Jim's recently and thought my hud took a crap. Found out it was not the hud but my sun glasses lol.

I guess that is the issue, an extra second, I am never in that much of a hurry. :)

I bought an inexpensive pair of non-polarized sun glasses just for driving. They work great with the HUD. I never take them out of the car and keep them in the overhead storage compartment.

Same here, and as a boater they were all I had. Stopped at Dollar store, got the perfect pair that fit over my glasses for a buck and a half! At CVS Foster Grant only $32, non polar.

Oh, after a year I also noticed that the engine shut down only works about half the time. Less if you have the AC on. And it does not work at all coming to a stop with cruise engaged. And with HUD, I turn cruise on out the driveway. :)
Voice NAV works so well, very impressed. Problem to me is the big screen has too much info, confusing. With the HUD there is just an arrow with distance making it so simple.

Hint on buying. In the Hell of the finance office. Even with the good warranty they try and sell you full extended 10 year for $3K. I laughed. Down to $2K. I walked out. He chased me to the showroom with $1k. I took it. :)

i always leave wiggle room in front of me when i stop...someone comes in a little hot behind me cause they are texting or distracted and i can move if needed (habit from riding motorcycles)...sometimes all it takes is an extra second for your car to start back up to ruin your day...the A/C and the heat cutting out is also an issue aside from the starter...if you drive a lot of highway miles and only hit a few stops on your daily commute how much fuel are you actually saving?...too bad the car doesn't tell you what you save...does anyone know what this car consumes while stopped and idling?...i'd be curious to time how long the car shuts off for on a daily commute and figure it out

I pretty much get 20mpg. My wife get's 14mpg. She uses no drive assist in any manner, including autostop. She is also heavy on pedals. I am always on ECO and cruise and just let it follow cars and let it do the pedals. I also love not having to keep my foot on the brake.
Cruise engaged autostop does not turn off engine. Also with cruise engaged the lane holding works at 1mph rather than 40mph. Here in Houston rush hour traffic on the freeways, cruise is a godsend. No need for pedals and just a light touch on the wheel to keep the nag away. So often in that situation, I find myself patting the dash and saying GOOD CAR GOOD CAR like its a dog. :)

Everything Point said!! AutoHold however is a fantastic feature as i'm sitting at lights for 5 min all the time. gets exhausting. Had it on my Fusion and now the Telly. Absolutely love it!

I always shut off auto stop as it shuts off you air and heat. Also I do mostly highway driving and eco mode and I'm getting 25 miles a gallon on my all-wheel drive which I've been happy with.

Kia should allow autostop without the engine turn off. For that is not what is important to me, not having to hold the brake pedal. Though it is a corporate thing, they get a nominal boost on MPG officially with it. Probably 1mpg.

Rack, perhaps i'm not understanding but i think you are confusing AutoStop and Autohold which are the two buttons next to each other. AutoStop turns off the engine and defaults to ON. AutoHold allows you to take your foot off of the pedal at a stop and defaults to OFF. they are not tied together as far as I can tell. Hate AutoStop - Love AutoHold.
The defaults are absolutely backwards in my opinion.

Oh no. A year and I didnt know dat! Here in hot Houston with the air on all the time, the autoStop works less than half the time, it does not work at all with Cruise engaged, and if I turn the fans all the way up it never turns green. Also it does not really last long enough for most of the lights here when it does go green.
