  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Glad to find this site and forums! I'm from suburbs just north of Philadelphia. Grew up in the area. Big sports fan and car guy - Always searching and exploring vehicles new and old. Have made the decision that the Telluride will be my next vehicle to get into over the next 4-6 months. Excited, but also nervous about finding a deal that's right for me! Looking forward to exploring more on here and learning a lot :)

Thank you! Much appreciate the warm welcome. The Telluride will be replacing my 2019 Mazda 3. Little car. Originally got the car due to my job at the time, but now I definitely need something bigger and safer! Looking forward to getting my hands on a Gravity Gray Nightfall AWD :) (fingers crossed)

Welcome!! I'm from deleware county. Your best bet is murray kia in our area. They're the only local dealer selling at msrp. Everyone else is 2,000 to 10,000 over msrp. You might have to wait 8 months or so but it'll be worth it. Murray is saying over a year wait currently but they give conservative lead times. I ordered from them on 9/30. And was told 8 to 12 months. I just picked it up last week. So a 6 month wait.

When you call murray ask for Roger okane. He's good.

Also I don't know much about Bergeys but your fist question in this market should be " are you charging over msrp?"

Check out the "murray kia order to delivery time "tread

Great info. Thanks for this!!

Welcome to the forum! Lots of solid buying tips here. Don’t count out Bergey’s, especially if you’re local. They are small volume and may not be taking orders but they used to keep a waiting list and match you up with incoming allocations at MSRP. I traded in my 2020 there for the 2022 in December after a short 4 month wait. Ask for Sarah or Tony, good people.

Question - This will be my first time financing a vehicle (i've only leased before), so how do you go about figuring out your estimated payments beforehand? Is this something you talk over with the dealer specifically?

The dealer may not take the time to give you a good estimate until the vehicle arrives. They also can't give you a great estimate if your purchase is a ways away or without running your credit. But you can definitely calculate it yourself and get within ~$10/mo of what you will actually pay.

Step 1 is to figure out the out-the-door price which includes sale price + taxes + doc fee + registration fee. Here is a very good source for getting close to that number based on your state: Out the door pricing estimator - YAA
You just plug in the MSRP and your state. You may need to adjust the doc fee based on your dealership and the sales tax could potentially be slightly higher or lower depending on your city, but generally those small differences will be negligible when it comes to your monthly payment. You will need to make sure the dealer will give you MSRP without any add-ons. You can generally find that out by browsing these forums.

Step 2 is to subtract any down payment (including trade-in) from the out-the-door price. The resulting amount will be the amount you need to finance.

Step 3 is to get an idea of realistic rates that you will pay on your loan based on the term of the loan. A lot of banks and credit unions will advertise their best rates with excellent credit. Depending on your credit you may want to add 0.5% - 1.5% to what they advertise. Rates will also change over time so depending on how close you are to getting your vehicle, you may want to use a few different rates to get an idea of a best-case and worst-case scenario for your payment.

Step 4 is to punch those numbers into just about any auto loan calculator. Use the amount you got from subtracting your down payment from the out-the-door price as the amount financed and use the rates you found to figure out about what your payments will be.
