If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... How did you get interested in Telluride?

I planned to go from a 2015 Durango to a 2020 or 2021 Durango. I was about to deploy to Afghanistan soon so I told my wife I’d just get rid of the Rango and drop like 15-20k on the downpayment after my deployment to offset the 55,000 MSRP. The more I began to crunch numbers the more I started to wonder why I wanted another 50k+ dodge gas guzzler. So I started looking for similar sized SUVs that were better on gas (I drive 30 minutes of highway to work every morning). I found the 2020 Traverse was a top 2 contender as I thought it looked cool. I ended up seeing a Dark Moss Telluride at a hotel and I literally got all up in their stuff, Looked in every single window 😂😂. Dune brown SX with prestige package. Ended up changing my mind because I personally HATE chrome accent, to the point where I don’t even want it on my door handles. Long story short while I was in Crapghanistan my wife sends me a link to an article about the nightfall package and I was like yep. Now I have an ETA of December 22 and literally dying from anticipation. I wanted the SX P, in Wolf Gray but the dealer I live 5 minutes from had an EX P on order in WG already priced MSRP at 44370 so I just scooped that up. I feel it has everything the Durango has for almost 5-10k cheaper and better on gas. Win win! I did however just get a 2020 Acadia for the wife and I will say while it is not as nice as the Telluride and was 14,000 cheaper it is incredibly spacious and has captains chairs as well. You’d have to get the Denali to match the quality of the lowest model Telluride 🤷🏾‍♂️.
Great story!! Thank you for your service to our country👍

I was able to place my order via KFOS. I knew at that point that there was light at the end of the tunnel. Everyday I would check FailCat waiting for my VIN to pop.
Great story! Question - what is KFOS and FailCat?

KFOS stand for Kia Forward Ordering System. It allows dealers to place an order with Kia. Dealers are allocated so many vehicles per month. KIA opens KFOS mid month and allows dealers to place orders up to their monthly allotment. FailCat tracks Telluride made by VIN, Color, Model,Options. It also tracks by Dealer. There are multiple threads on here that fully explain both.

A perfect VFR day to fly😎
Indeed, I remember that day like it was yesterday, flying through the desert to deliver mail 😳 at 1500 ft was about 125 deg F. 🤢🥵 Still a blast!

The AW 139s we had, had AC. But i know how hot it can get in those. Lol

Went with Kia because it's the best value (even at full MSRP). CX-9 was too small. Highlander's new styling was not my taste. Traverse had too many cost cutting measures inside. Pilot/Passport doesn't have a 360 camera (mandatory for my wife). I don't like the center stack in the Explorer. Atlas was too boring inside. Audi and Merc would have to be used models and I was afraid of maintenance costs.
At the end, the Telluride ticked all the boxes. Ventilated seats, advanced infotainment and ACC, 360 camera, large cargo capacity, lux interior, great warranty, nice styling, and rear vents in the roof instead of hitting your knees from the center console.

I have a 2008 Acura MDX. Car runs great but I have been thinking to replace since last year before any major problems arise. I am a big fan of Japanese cars so replacing it with another MDX was my first tough. However, the lack of innovation in the last few year models as well as the not so great reviews about the 9-speed automatic transmission made me doubt.
  • Mazda CX-9 looks awesome, rides great and I almost like it only cons is the turbocharged engine
  • Highlander and Pilots are kind of boring for my taste.
  • Lexus RX-L has solid reliability but it looks is horrible and the 3rd row is a joke.
  • Subaru Ascent: I didn't like the way it felt while driving.
  • Since I like to keep my cars for 5+ years, none of the European were not an option.
  • I didn't seriously considered any GM or Chrysler SUV.
  • Ford Explorer I considered.
Only options seriously considered where CX-9, Explorer and MDX. Then I watched this:

Loved the way it looked. Very much like a Range Rover. Reliability was unknown for the Telluride since it was the first model year. But then I started to see how Consumer Reports rated it top of the line. Same with Edmunds, Cars.com, US News, JD Power. Every single review on youtube and everywhere else praised the car. 10 year warranty on powertrain appeased all my worries. Found this forum back in February to see what owners said. Mostly everyone loved it. Test drove one in February and I needed to look no further. The only issue was the price dealers were charging. I was not paying above MSRP. So I did spend sometime researching and found a dealer 45mins way charging MSRP on orders. Put an order couple of weeks ago and I will be waiting for some time. But that's ok. I think it will be worth it.

Might not be as long as you think. I ordered mine August 30th and scheduled delivery was Oct 23rd. I got a call that it was at the dealer yesterday the 20th of Oct (I'm driving down from NM to TX to pick it up this Friday). That was about 51 days from order to delivery. Not too bad.

Yeah, I am hoping mine to go into KFOS next month. I ordered the SXP and the turn-around from KFOS first ETA to delivery is around 3 months on the dealership I ordered.

Which trim did you ordered?
Never mind... I saw you are the OP and ordered the SX :)

I’ve had two Sorentos, 2012 and 2014, nearly flawless for both. Currently I have 105k miles on a 2014. Batteries, tires, and a driver side window controller replaced is all. Paint is like new. I was looking for a slightly larger SUV last May when I discovered the Telluride. I don’t expect any less reliability, although the electronics concern me, but are also why I like the new Kias. It’s the vehicle for me for sure, as much as I wanted to want an explorer—they just don’t cut it in comparison. And the Pilot looks like a minivan.
I’ve had an order in with the dealer since June. I’m not sure if they ever even placed an order for me truthfully—they never gave me any paperwork confirmation despite my requests. Three weeks ago they said if I ordered a nightfall, it would get here sooner, so that’s what I did. (I do like the nightfal, white with black interior). I’m still asking for and not getting the order details on that one. In the meantime, I see an exact match on failcat for my first (non-nf) order created 10/06/2020 for my dealership. So still waiting. Luckily I’m not in a hurry, but I am looking forward to my newest Kia!
