• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I got a lemon SX

🤖 AI Summary

Unforantually you walked into a dealer trap. If they could sell it locally for msrp, they would have. I bet if you search the VIN, this vechile was transdered from shady dealer to dealer.

You don't get to 50+ miles with out noticing something that popup up at 6 miles.

Let me guess, they sold you this for a huge discount?
Sorry missed your comment. Not a huge discount. The service dept here locally could see the history. The selling dealer followed Kia tech advice.

You’re having the same error as me?

My engine light came on, I got an error message like you did. The car would barely accelerate, but the tach would rev. I took it to the dealer, they said they fixed it, but the same thing happened the next day. I took a video this time and I am definitely keeping all documentation. It is at the dealer now and I am waiting to hear from them.

Which state are you in and what was your fix? For me it was a brand new transmission. How many days out of service? Request they drive it at least 50 miles to check.

If you could- please document the date of manufacture and trim level of your vehicle if it has a major issue out of the box so to speak- will help others of this forum look for similar occurrences and problems that might be common source in manufacturing or part suppliers. The best way to get recalls put in place is for someone to track down several instances and then report them appropriately.

Same issue here. Our Dark Moss Telluride S arrived at the dealership on Tuesday. We picked it up yesterday and almost immediately noticed that something was not right with the transmission. Every shift was hard and it struggled to find a gear. After 28 scary miles it’s back in the dealership. The master tech states that it’s likely going to need a new transmission but couldn’t give me a timeframe on how long it would take. We’re anxiously waiting to see what happens.

So pretty much same thing that happened to Subaru with ascent, let’s see what Kia does, apparently they dealt with their problem.

Having same issue with my sx at 2k miles. 2nd time in shop. If not fixed I will be hiring lemon law attorney and run from Kia.

Have you had any resolution?

Beware of the word “lemon”. I had a friend buy a vehicle from a “John doe LLC auto group” that had been labeled as a lemon through carfax. He didn’t know till it was way too late. Obviously it wasn’t labeled a lemon when u bought it but if it in fact does get that title forget about trading it in cause a dealer won’t even touch it or offer u very little for ur truck. Something to look into.

Update on our Telluride situation: after a week at Kia service, it was determined that a bad batch of inhibitor switches caused some Tellurides built when ours was built to have symptoms of Transmission issues. I was shown a picture of some resin that had gotten into the internals during the production process. It’s too technical for me to understand fully what happened but we now have a Telluride back at 100 miles on the clock (the dealer put a lot of miles on it to make sure the problem was fixed). It appears to be problem free. However it’s going to be a while before I trust the car again after it put us in danger last time. I’m also concerned that the transmission may be damaged and the issues won’t re-emerge for a few thousand miles despite dealer assurances.

Good to hear …. hopefully you were reimbursed payments, given some accessories, etc WITHOUT having to sign a waiver!! Good luck with the fix.

We've opened a complaint with Kia so will keep this thread updated with what happens from here.

I had this type of situation with an '09 Hyundai Sonata. Transmission wouldn't operate in mornings. Car had been shipped from another dealer. After two weeks of trying to repair with no luck, I had my dealership run the Vin and see its history, the original dealer had replaced 4 or 5 switches and sensors related to brake/transmission system, then they were able to send it off to me! I started a Lemon Law procedure, Luckily I won and got a different vehicle which my son now has. A week after getting the new car and after a whole new wiring harness had been shipped from Korea, it was discovered that one of the 4 bolts that hold the main fuse box onto the fender was broken and when cold/cool proper contact was not made. Probably a $.50 fix that cost a few hundred dollars.

Did yours get fixed? Mine was an issue with the transmission control module. I’ve been offered a replacement however Kia won’t cover CA sales tax which is ridiculous. Still in discussions.

There is another forum that is already documenting a whole bunch of issues. I'll supply the link here. Not to direct traffic elsewhere, but maybe this form needs a sticky thread documenting all of the problems that have been experienced by the owners.

Haha... Now I feel like a moron. :)
