• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Incoming Map Update: 16.5 Arriving October 24

Please describe the issue.
It’s described in that thread. Basically the car GPS is losing track of where it is and drifting from the actual location. What’s weird is that the car gps somehow affects the phone gps when using CarPlay. Sometimes when you unplug the phone, one or both get back on track.

My wife had the issue when driving my car yesterday. She doesn’t have the issue when driving her Tucson hybrid.

CarPlay uses the car’s GPS signal (on cars that have GPS).

Usually this is helpful for getting a more reliable signal. It is not helpful if the car’s GPS is broken or malfunctioning.

Ah, okay, I used Android Auto so I haven't had that issue. It's weird.

Ah I didn’t know that. Makes sense that I’m seeing what I’m seeing then. Ugh that points to the car having an issue then.

For some
Okay. Update done and installed. Not really a big difference if you’re coming from April.

Same general interface.

Here’s what’s called out by the system as new:

1. New and improved sounds of nature
2. Applying sound effects for each mode (like if you don’t want QLS enabled for some things but want it for others)
3. New eco design theme (EV only, not for the Telluride)
4. French and Spanish voice recognition now supported in North America
5. Setting/changing home/work using voice recognition
6. Enhanced North American radio information display

That last one involves better information and graphics, depending on the station. For example, here’s my local public radio station playing before the update:
View attachment 28171
And after:
View attachment 28172
Other stations have more info and album art:
View attachment 28173
Could be useful if you use the radio. I don’t, so doesn’t matter to me.

Otherwise, not much. There is a clock display when the 360° camera is being viewed, as well (in case you really need to know the time while maneuvering).

How’d you get the update? I can’t seem to install it currently.

Probably a dumb question, but how do I get an older update? I.e. my nav is really - original 2020, probably. When I try using the Navigation Updater, it just tells me that the "download for this vehicle is not yet available". I assume that's just the message you get now that the update was pulled.
Is there some way to pick a previous release - i.e. the May one? Or do we think the October update is going to be re-released soon enough that I shouldn't bother?
Thanks!

All new releases supersede old ones. Once there’s a new one out, the previous one disappears.

The present situation is the newest update is unavailable, so nothing is available.

It's back online for me finally

Sweet me too. Thanks for posting!

Wow 21 GB.

Yep - still downloading with 15 minutes to go (estimated 40 total). I have a 1GB connection, so the source is slow, or maybe the bottleneck is the flash drive. Either way... finally! ;)

i don't plan to do any of these...using carplay all the time why would you need to since google maps data is better and updated more often...how often do the roads change where you drive?...also the chance that you have an issue with the update or bugs is higher (kind of like the clot shot)...hard pass

Same! It took a while for it to download for me too over gigabit.

Download went smoothly and pretty quickly, but it now in the "copying" part and it is extremely slow. I'm guessing the server is a bit overloaded.

Copying should be local and therefore dependent on your PC/USB slot speed.

Yea I rarely use the car GPS. I mainly use the phone’s GPS. But since CarPlay uses the car GPS like the last post said, that’s an issue.

Sounds like the same issue I had. The GPS module in the car was replaced and it solved the issue. Yes, when using Android Auto or Carplay, the car's GPS will be used instead of the phone's.

I don't use the car nav very often unless I drive at night and want to use the HUD for turn-by-turn navigation on the screen. This update doesn't have much, but it usually includes map updates, feature updates, and bug fixes.

Hopefully that’s the issue with mine. My dealer couldn’t reproduce the issue, but said that the GPS antenna and module? are under warranty for 5/60k, while the head unit is only 3/36k. I have the extended warranty which would cover the head unit so I’m good either way if it gets to that point.
