• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Incoming Map Update: 16.5 Arriving October 24

Hopefully that’s the issue with mine. My dealer couldn’t reproduce the issue, but said that the GPS antenna and module? are under warranty for 5/60k, while the head unit is only 3/36k. I have the extended warranty which would cover the head unit so I’m good either way if it gets to that point.
I heard differently from both my dealer and Kia about the warranty, and the documentation backs them up. From the warranty manual: "An original equipment radio, compact disk player, OE DVD / RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment System) or navigation system is covered for the first 36months/36,000 miles." Fortunately I had an extended warranty which covered it too.

My issue started as very intermittent and hard to reproduce also. But I was able to capture it on video when it was malfunctioning which helped a lot. By the time the replacement part came in, it was failing regularly. Good luck.

Yep, like the other posters mentioned, the update is available again and it went smooth, no major news. And for the people that ask if they need to have the car running or on a battery tender for the update the answer is no. You can turn the car off and the update will still go on in the background.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll try to get it on video. And I’m glad I got that extended warranty from Muncie!

Do i need to do anything to get the update? I haven't driven the car all week. Does it do it automatically when the car is running? I did get an email today (1 year anniversary) that my "package" has been reduced from "Ultimate" to "Lite". Have no clue what they are talking about. I'm guessing some "free" one year perks will no longer be working.
They are talking about Kia Connect. You get the first year for free. after that it gets downgraded to Lite, which doesn't really have anything in it.

Okay. Update done and installed. Not really a big difference if you’re coming from April.

Same general interface.

Here’s what’s called out by the system as new:

4. French and Spanish voice recognition now supported in North America

I would love if they fixed the ENGLISH support! Going to download now and hopefully the voice recognition works. Crazy that it worked fine when we picked up the car in 2021 and then basically useless once they started updating the software.

Note that all or most of the inbuilt voice recognition features require an active Kia Connect subscription.

I have read that, but when you look at the Kia propaganda it says the voice should still work using the offline aka built-in database.

I have been able to hit the button and say, Find an Address in Maryland, and have it work. Maybe one time! Most times it's that POI annoyance.

Wife went to pick up a friend at the airport recently and couldn't get it to find a major airport. She is very frustrated and just used her iphone.

I don't mind the nav system and just wish the voice would work.

Last night I failed to update. It was late and the system said you could turn off the car. This morning, no joy, but thankfully the system wasn't bricked. Going to connect the battery tender tonight and do it with the accessory switched on.

Anybody notice after the update that the mute button on the steering wheel now mutes your Apple Play music instead of the Nav? I was so used to doing this, keeping the car's voice nav on and just hitting the mute button to skip the next command but now it's doing the opposite which is quite annoying.

The only thing I’ve noticed is a clock overlay when you’re in reverse with the cameras on.

Looks like latest update reset a lot of my settings back to default, including deleting my saved locations which I've never had happen with previous updates. Found it in Menu - Sound - Guidance

I assume the update has been pulled again. I'm getting the "download is not available for my vehicle" error.

PROBLEM AFTER INSTALLING THE UPDATE
I’m not happy with the update as it apparently induced a problem with the USB input port on my 2022 Telluride. I usually use WAZE for navigation and it work perfectly before the latest update. Now the USB connection is intermittently lost causing a reboot of the display and the need to restart CarPlay. I’m trying to catch it on video when it happens as I’m sure Kia won’t do anything unless they can see it happening. I contacted customer support for the software update and was told they only support issues with the mapping software and nothing in the update would affect the USB input. Said it must be a Kia problem and to contact Kia. I would revert to the original version if I could figure out how to do it. Just wondering if anyone out there has a similar problem after the update or any suggestions on resolving this problem.

Sounds like a bad USB cable, I'm using Waze on latest update & haven't seen that happen

Thanks but that’s the first thing I tried. Wiggling the plug/wires doesn’t cause it to happen. Totally random. Glad you don’t have the problem. It only happened after the update.

I installed the latest updates last night in my 2020 SX. My car came with the old three panel orange/tan interface and when I did the first update a while back and it changed everything to the purple theme, although I liked the purple, I absolutely hated the graphics particularly of the tube radio. So when this update was available, I figured I was just getting maps and some basics like the language support. But much to my delight, the tube radio is gone! Now it has a beautiful layout with great information. Maybe it's my imagination but boot time seems quicker also. I haven't fiddled with any of the other improvements like speaking full addresses to add them to navigation. The purple background screen when you don't have anything particular open is also redesigned with better fonts and better looking graphics.

I think pressing the rear button definitely brings up rear climate settings on screen much quicker. Used to take like 5 seconds, now only takes 1 second.

This is by far the worst infotainment system in any newer car i've driven, hands down. Even Chevy of all people has a much quicker/better interface. Why, in a model year 2022 vehicle, are we waiting seconds (not split seconds, seconds!!) for functions/screens to show up after pressing a button??!! The system is totally ridiculous!! Horribly laid out, with song title and...........well, i could go on and on, I'm sure most already share this frustration. But just had to say it here as the update I just put on last night, removed a ton of features our SX-NF had, like auto lock/unlock, lift gate auto open/close, etc. Those features are GONE from the Settings>Vehicle menu now. Spent 15 min last night looking and can't find those features anywhere! Anyone else have this issue?

Do they provide a document that states what changed? Where things may be found now?
Honestly, I rarely use the stock infotainment. My phone connects for Carplay, and I use that 99% of the time.

The only thing I do with the infotainment system is access some of the settings for the car.

Those settings should have never been in the infotainment on your 2022, it was a bug that had them showing up there in the first place. Those are all settings that are found via your instrument cluster settings (accessed with your steering wheel).

And the Kia infotainment system is actually recognized as one of the better ones in the industry. Plus they offer the unprecedented feature of free map updates for many years, many of which also bring other added functionality improvements.

Ok, thanks. I will check the steering wheel menu for those. Before your message came in I had re-downloaded the update and started it again just a min ago, thinking it needed redone. Can't hurt I guess, but will look elsewhere for those settings.

And I don't know how the system can be regarded as one of the best in the industry. Speed-wise, layout-wise, all of that, is so much better in most every rental car I get (travel for work, rent all kinds of makes/models). Getting back in the Telluride is just frustrating. Everything from going to the same home screen at startup, and NOT the screen every consumer would want (the screen that was on when you turned the car off), to the multi-second delay after button presses/taps, to the brutal layout. EVERY, and I mean EVERY other rental car (most are 2020 and newer of course) goes to the Carplay screen if you shut the car off at the Carplay screen. That or the Sirius/XM (or Radio) screen. This is so damn basic it's not funny! To have to hit the "RADIO" button each time, or tap on the screen to get to what you really want to see if just ludicrous. Guess everyone has an opinion, or maybe we just have a slow one, not sure, but I'd take a Toyota or Honda or Chevy interface any day. So much quicker and better laid out.
