• THIS SECTION IS ONLY FOR DISCUSSIONS RELATING TO BUYING A TELLURIDE. PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT SECTION FOR POSTING MESSAGES ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN BUYING A TELLURIDE. THANK YOU!

  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Put it on marketplace, I bet you at least get your money back if you paid msrp! Or order a 2022 now and sell yours a little before it comes in. Free upgrade 😅
Sounds great, I like that. If I decide to sell I'll do that.

No, you're exactly right @StephenCantrelle--& we totally get the "WHY" of these owners doing what they're doing....profit. One need not have a PhD in Economics to understand the basic principles of the theories set forth by the great thinkers, from--John Locke & Adam Smith through Milton Friedman & John Maynard Keynes. Dealership Owners have not only the RIGHT to earn a profit, they have an OBLIGATION--to their stakeholders, and more importantly, to their many employees--to earn one. They took all the risk, put up their capital, & fought through all the lean years--& they deserve to be rewarded. As do their sales teams (since y'all are the ones who log the ridiculous hours & put in the "sweat equity" on their behalf!).

But there is stark difference between: PROFIT (a fair and honest one) & PROFITEERING (the act of taking advantage of unusual or exceptional circumstances to make excessive profit through the manipulation of prices, or by exploiting a bad or unusual situation such as this semiconductor shortage) I think we all must know...that this is what we're experiencing. While not ILLEGAL, history has NOT been kind to those Vendors who have engaged in such practices. The smartest & most enduring of Manufacturers/Brands understand that over the long run, markets will stabilize & Consumers (fickle though we may be) tend to have have looong memories!

But @Tortuga07 (et al) hits the nail on the head reg. the "ol' Bait & Switch". If these Dealers only knew just how EXHAUSTING it is for us, the Consumers (& from your point of view--potential "Brand Loyalists" well into the future!) to be forced into chasing all these rabbits down their tiny holes--only to come up empty-handed & frustrated. SOO much time & effort calling/emailing these folks, making the small talk, etc....agreeing on one price, only to be hit with something altogether different--AFTER we've become "personally & emotionally invested" (oftentimes, right before we're ready to sign the contract). This is no doubt, by design, & obviously (however unfortunately) still works. That's on us. But PLEASE realize this: it won't always be this way...~Rebel...out. HYDR

We're not blaming Dealership Owners for fulfilling their obligation to earn an honest profit. Nor are we blaming them for the supply chain crunch or the confluence of other mitigating factors that have created the ridiculous imbalance in the wholesale market for used vehicles. We DO, however, take offense at the endless games of hide & seek being played by so many here--wasting everyone's time & energy.

All we're saying is that we wish more of these folks would be like YOU, @StephenCantrelle--& just "come correct". In a free market economy, consumers & vendors alike should walk away from any commercial transaction--WITH something...namely "a fair deal for you & a fair deal for me." With the power of this newfangled internet now serving as "The Great Equalizer"--knowledge has become power--& all these gimmicks & tricks should have already become a thing of the past.

In their place? Transparency. Honesty. Value Added Service, & Knowledge of Product--all the things you have consistently & faithfully exhibited here @StephenCantrelle (at least in my limited time reading through these threads). Your insights here are invaluable & your willingness to help others, even when doing so does not add to your own bottom line--is rather inspirational. THAT...is how Brand Loyalty is & should be created--by folks who have a passion for both their product and their profession.

SOOO...If you haven't been told yet today, allow me: THANK YOU, @StephenCantrelle, for the value you bring to those of us still "on the hunt"!!

I am 95% with you, however, I DO BLAME the OEM's for the supply crunch. They literally canceled months of orders at the start of the pandemic, the red hot computer sector happilly bought all their supply, and now they are screwed. They literally shot themselves in the foot, and now are trying to get bailed out agian.

I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR 99% of OEMS and mostly USA based ones who always have their hands out. Buying American these days means you paid for them to build the car with your taxes, and then bought it a second time and paid taxes on top of it.

Hyundai/KIA, apparently, did NOT short their chips though now things are starting to catch up as their stockpile runs out.

Otherwise, I'm 100% on board with what you said.
