If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Since the cars have not arrived yet; what if I dont want the protectiom package?

Thanks anyway, I dont need $2400 worth of Super High Tech Wax, Rain-X and Sctochguard, in addition the Weathertech mats are $190.00 directly from Weathertech your advertisement has them at $222.90.....

Good luck with your sales.

If you can find a Telluride let me know thanks
The sarcasm drips LOL

In all honesty though, everyone has got to pay the bills with less and less inventory. Why customers think they should get 30-40 percent more for their trade ins but not also have to pay more for new cars is beyond me. Its a wash, you sell your old car for more, you pay more for new. Like MSRP is a great deal lol. Most cars sell for 10-15 even 20 percent less than msrp after all the incentives etc. MSRP is just a starting point in a negotiation supplied by manufactures. Sometimes you end up on one side of the deal, sometimes the other.

As the Telluride goes they haven’t done much for incentives. We are trying to help with inventory control and some places are asking way more then we are! That being said we are not asking for any add ons for orders so they are sold at MSRP.

Then like other businesses they should just raise the price of the car. Not add bloated packages of worthless snake oil that a customer MUST take to purchase the car. More importantly that worthless crap is not even on the car yet because the car is not delivered; but you cant delete the crap.

Imagine going to a grocery store and attempting to buy a steak BUT no you have to buy a package of Tofurkey Kielbasa Sausage that you don't want or the store will not sell the steak.... How long are you going to continue shop there?

I for one do not understand people that agree or comply with these types of sales tactics, just say goodbye and locate a dealer that doesn't want to fleece the customer by forced purchasing of worthless crap. The deal is only good if it has a value for my $$$, perhaps others think forced purchasing of Tofurkey Kielbasa Sausage is a good sales practice; I am on the other side of that deal.

By the way I purchased a 2021 SXP with tow for MSRP.....

I think your analogy works if you say something like, The kielbasa costs more but comes with sauerkraut and onions on the side. If customers were not so dull as to not understand that sometimes you pay less sometimes more than msrp, dealers prob would not have to use these tactics. It goes both ways, some dealers are obnoxious and moronic, but so are humans in general. So its hard to know who is the chicken and who is the egg.

I get it. The strategy for incoming, non special order, minimal wait vehicles is let's advertise at MSRP, but we want to make some extra profit and inventory control without just doing a straight no-value-added markup. So let's add a mandatory protection package that adds some value to the sale but also nets some additional profit.

I would suggest just simply taking the profit margin desired after the protection package is applied and adding that to the MSRP. Then the customer can decide if and where they want to spend the savings on the products and labor for the package.

But, I'm not a marketing expert or anything, so the strategy here may just work. People can choose to buy or not. Personally I think I'm going to end up spending about $2700 for Xpel PPF and ceramic coating inside and out when I get the vehicle and that doesn't include any undercoating.

So, it's a strategy, some people might like it, some people might not. As long as the products and application are good then I think it's better than a straight $2500 markup with no value added. 🤷‍♂️

If only you could customize your package and let the customers decide which useful add-ons that would work for them, that would have been a more attractive selling pitch than a fixed one. Let's say you give customers up to 3 options to choose from mix and match whatever product. I would jump on that immediately like.. I want weather tech, tint, etc. that most customers would add anyway after buying a car. It saves time and also gives flexibility.

I think you missed my point, I dont want the kielbasa at all. I went to buy a steak. The store decided I needed Tofurkey Kielbasa Sausage and I cant buy a steak without Kielbasa unless I special order one and wait. My thought is I am already compromising (color, features, Model level) because my choices are limited to what is comming in.

I can buy exactaly what I want for MSRP if I order; but if I compromise and buy whats on the lot, I have to purchase $2,600 worth of adds chosen by the dealer, most of which have zero value to me (weather techs have value, the rest, in my opnion is snake oil).

I understand the dealer side of the deal, but thats not the side I am concerned about. Being forced to buy what I consider valueless items makes this deal senseless. Emotional thinkers that have to have that Telluride today may consider this offer differently. Kia makes Tellurides almost everyday and although popular they are not limited editions.

I went to my local dealers, found an unspoken for SX--P with tow, crossbars, Kia LED lighting kit and floor mats, and paid MSRP.
