I am shopping for a new SUV to drive about town and on several trips a year. I travel alone with my dog most of the time - we go to different competitions. I have to haul our gear including a standing crate, fans, chair, etc. Getting rid of an Acadia. Wary of a Kia. Not sure why. I don't buy cars often. Current car is a 2012 and would be keeping it if not for an unidentifiable problem that makes me worry to travel alone. Longevity of Kias is my question. I want a telluride that will still be a reliable car in 2030.

There are dealers out there selling at MSRP so don't be discouraged by what you were quoted by one dealer you contacted. My recommendation is to test drive the vehicle, find the trim and options you want, and then find a dealer who sells at MSRP to purchase from. Right now you can basically expect to pay MSRP or slightly lower with military rebates or the Costco discount depending on your situation and location. If that is within your comfort range for what you would pay, then the Telluride is truly a great ride and value compared to its competition.

This doesn't mean much if Kia isn't helpful during warranty claims which is happening to a few of us right now. Just keeping it real.

Totally agree. Warranty experiences will vary depending on the repair type and dealer. For example, I only need a plastic door trim replaced. Part was ordered and installed in less than a week with no hassle. That is a super simple fix though.

Still I would argue a possibility of warranty covered repairs after 9 years of ownership is still better than full out of pocket expenses. Like other car makes after the first 5/6 years.

I had the same experience. Above MSRP markup varied based on dealer. But it's a different story when you are at the dealership. test drive, find a dealer /sales rep that is reputable and build a rapport, once you feel comfortable have them qualify you before discussing price, or if they even have available. After doing that my dealer called once they were notified vehicle with my specs (I gave variations), and literally held the keys hostage for 2 days until I could come in, and while I was there negotiating down the price 3 ppl were sitting there waiting to see if I was going to buy or not so they could swoop in and get if I chose to not go with uplift. They didn't do the same prep work I did, and being a Kia owner for years (other is 2016 Optima SX turbo with only 4k miles), I was able to get at MSRP, removing markup AND the dealer add-on items they put in, in addition to the manufacturer add-ons. Most dealers are doing markups at $5k, so the ones with higher are doing it so you can negotiate and feel like you have some power. The fact that they're so limited is why they're doing it, for all Tellurides regardless of which design you chose. It really is whether you fall in love with it or not and are willing to put in the work to wait and also build the relationship so the dealer wants you to have it, more than someone walking in and willing to just pay asking.
