• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Kia Access App/remote start

Oddly enough, yesterday afternoon when I tried accessing the iPhone app and the web portal neither worked. When I called Kia support they said their portal servers were being upgraded and services were down. I tried both again this morning and everything is now working again.

Interesting because when we called twice yesterday neither person told us that. That would have saved us having them to delete our account (their suggestion) that have still not done. We need to call again today

Maybe its a weather thing, because it as soon as it snowed, the feature stopped completely (compared to working +/-40% of the time in nice weather when you don't need it). Definitely would not pay for the app, ever. But I was partially sold on the "remote starter" that is listed in the options. Seems like false advertising. Love everything else about the car, but its true that you don't need to reinvent the wheel for some things.

Yes, even under best radio conditions UVO is sloooow!

Given this, UVO exclusively use Verizon cell service in the US. Both your cell phone provider (or WiFi) and Verizon service has to have decent cell coverage. If either link is marginal you may get inconsistent performance which may be impacted even more by seasonality.

I just joined this forum and posted this on another string. I am also confused. The dealer and calling Kia did not provide me with a straight answer. Here is my question too. I was on a Kia site that stated "Yes, the 2020 Kia Telluride comes with standard Remote Start through the UVO telematics system. UVO is a subscription-free OEM infotainment and telematics service provided by Kia on select vehicles. It comes standard on the 2020 Kia Telluride, so any trim that you buy will come with this convenient Remote Start capability!" If this is a standard feature and "a subscription free OEM" as stated, I would think after the 1 year trial the app would still have the remote start capability???? What am I missing????

I agree, but where did you see that and is the a disclaimer in small print?

Bottom line is......your app is talking to a "server" somewhere, then the server talks to the vehicle and gets a response back THEN the server reports the vehicle status back to the app. All of that being the case, location can be very important with regard to cell signal strength and ability to transfer data. Here in central Pa..... I have found it normally takes 30 to 45 seconds for the signal to be sent to the vehicle and 30 seconds for the app to recognize that the vehicle has started. I will not be paying for the service. Keyfob remote start is still the most reliable and fastest.

Thank you. Where are you located? I am in Lebanon. Just curious when I saw Central PA.

I agree $225 a year for an app that works so poorly it’s asking a lot from their top-of-the-line vehicle. figured I would resolve the poor connectivity issue of the app by having Kia install a remote start system at the dealership to avoid using the app, you have to have Kia install it or you void for vehicle warranty. this past Wednesday I brought my car to the dealership and had it installed they kept the car overnight the next morning I picked it up early before work but before I got home I realize that several dashboard functions were not working properly. Called Kia they said to bring it back did not have time had to bring it back on Friday morning. Wen t to bring it back Friday morning the car was totally dead unable to unlock doors had to call dealer. They advised me to call Kia customer service to arrange for a tow truck to bring it to the dealership so I brought the car in with the tow truck Friday morning it is now late Saturday afternoon and they still have not figured out what is wrong with the vehicle since I had the remote starter installed at their dealership.

Wow! That is very concerning. I want remote start, but not those issues!

Who told you this? The dealership?

I was told by the dealership as well as kia consumer affairs.

I am still learning about my Telluride S. (I only purchased it a few days ago). Today I tried to use Alexa to start the car from my Echo. She didn't understand the command. ("Alexa, get UVO to start my car.") Not sure what I did incorrectly. So, I used the app on my phone. It worked, but I had no idea that the car was running? I looked out at the car in my driveway and couldn't tell that it was running. I assume that there are no lights that come on to let you know? My Explorer had an aftermarket starter and when I would push the remote, the car would start and the parking lights would illuminate.

No, the lights dont stay on after remotely starting your car.
I highly suggest that familiarize yourself with the app, as the indicators/buttons change on the door locks and remote start, as well as sending you notifications, if enabled.

Thank you. Yes. I do need to take the time to learn the functions. The remote start is nice, but after the year and cant see paying the price for something I will only use in the winter.

Mr or Ms Tell '20...
I feel for you. Any progress or further issues to report?
Would you rate the dealer involved as small, med or large?
