• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... KIA Telluride Owner Roll Call!

@RBubar Super Nice - Congrats! Kind of wish I had held on for an SX or EX Premium, or ordered one. Inventory here in San Diego has been so sparse or dealers are marking them up as much as $7500 over sticker still, I just got the right time on my S, but now am jealous of the SX owners! Really sharp - enjoy!

I had to do a lot of legwork to find one. There was only one in my area with all the features we wanted. Luckily it was only 20 minutes away!

Telluride EX Sangria, Premium package, 20 inch wheel....
3000 Miles
Cost: 38K +(taxes)

Is it worth it uring this pandemic time ?

The miles are 4000 also he is a private party. Do you think this is not a great deal ?
The owner is projecting as am I getting the best deal in this world.

I would opt for new at that price.

I feel like it’s only about 2 grand below sticker price and for 2 grand when we are talking about around $40k regardless of his or new, I’d personally prefer to have it from day one and spend the additional $2k. If he were asking $5k below sticker - different story.

Private party = 5 year warranty on powertrain used vs 10 year new original owner. Not a significant enough discount. You can lookup window sticker and see MSRP and calculate discount. If it's worth it to you, then do the deal. I don't know why you are posing the question with such limited information.

I apologize for being naive, just wanted get some suggestions from experts...

the owner said for 10 yr warranty he paid 2k extra and tranfer it to me for additional price...
So is he lying ?

If he told you he paid extra for a warranty, then it is likely an extended warranty, not the 10 year powertrain warranty the other poster mentions. Every extended warranty I have ever seen can be transferred to the next owner with the car at no charge, and is not something the original purchaser can choose as the warranty goes with the car. This action of the seller is a red flag to me because it sounds like he is hurting to get out of the car financially, and trying to squeeze an extra $2k from you for something that would go along with the car anyway (if it is an extended warranty) is pretty shady.

Thank you for your response.

These are likely not in stock at this dealer (Team Kia of El Cajon here in the San Diego area) as their site always does this - shows inventory that has already sold. BUT, the prices are accurate for the vehicles and these are all EX with Premium package. This is why I would have a tough time justifying $38,000 on a used one and not being the first owner with all of those benefits for the small price difference.

Here's what you need to know about Kia warranty in item (1) below.

(1) Purchase of a used vehicle that is not certified by a dealer (i.e. from a private party or non-Kia dealer) will mean a 5 year limited powertrain warranty from factory versus 10 year for original owner. (Read details from Kia if need more detail or you want to know specifics.)

(2) To evaluate the deal, I would get the VIN, use the VIN lookup URL to get MSRP and window sticker.

(3) Third party extended warranties can usually be sold back to warranty company by purchaser and refunded for unused portion, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for compensation for that option. If you didn't want that warranty, he could sell it back to recoup some of his cost for unused months. Depends on terms and company.

(4) I would think that 10-15% off MSRP would be reasonable for the used vehicle with low mileage to compensate for the reduced factory warranty and the mileage - that would translate into $4-6k off a $40k MSRP putting the vehicle in the $36k range at high end. Selling to you for $38k with extended warranty included may be okay. There is certainly room to negotiate in this market.

(5) What I meant by lack of info, is you didn't share MSRP, nor vehicle specs with forum (AWD/FWD, tow, options, etc) - just said EX Premium. So, it's difficult to evaluate if $38k is a good deal.

(6) I saw a listing on here from a dealer asking $1500 below MSRP for SX-P demo vehicles with 4k miles (less KMF finance incentive too, potentially $2500 off total). Just a reference point. And those are in very high demand...

(7) Only you can decide what deal you'll be happy with! But, you're getting good advice from other posters also.

What a screaming deal that would be! Not only a great price, but the fact it has never been titled so you still retain all of the first owner benefits!

Yes, those sold fast. That was from Donovan Castillo at Huffines Corinth. He posts regularly in the dealer inventory section - just posted today with some inventory.

My husband and I were lucky enough to buy one of the demo vehicles from Donovan less than 2 weeks ago. I didn't see his post you mentioned, but had seen a few people recommend him. We were thinking about placing an order so decided to text him about it. He told us he had a SXP Dark Moss/Dune demo on the lot, we immediately headed out the door, drove 90 minutes and picked it up. Super happy!

HI all! I'm Lana from Brantford, ON .. picked up my SXL pearl white today!!! LOVE IT!!!

Pearl white SX dune interior. Tow hitch. NO prestige package. Purchased aug 2019. 15,000 miles now. Still happy with the I-tell-uride. Why couldn't the SX be offered in Sangria? Turns heads in a parking lot. Maybe that's my funky hat.....oh yeah the UVO is a technical mistake. If Kia ever asks for a fee to keep active I want a 75% discount to match the functionality. Where is my simple keyfob?

Just bought SX snow white pearl, espresso brown interior, 20 in black rims.... We are in LOVE! Really looked hard for deals, but we are in NorCal, where every dealer is asking over MSRP by $4-8K. It's pretty ridiculous when other states are selling for MSRP. We almost bought from out of state and had it shipped ($1500 to ship from East to West Coast). Then we were lucky to find a dealer in San Bernardino who was only charging $2500 over msrp. So with the $1000 finance rebate, we paid $47,500. Pretty good we felt for the low supply and high demand right now in our area. We are soooo happy with our new Telly! Can't wait till Covid quarantine is lifted so we can really take her out!

Gravity Gray SX with Black interior from Winnipeg - Canada. Just picked it up on the weekend. It’s been a great week with it so far!
