  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi! Just starting to research the Telluride as my next vehicle here. Have 120,000 miles on a 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum, and I put 110,000 on a 2012 Explorer Limited before that. Had BMWs and a Porsche along the way for a decade. Looks to be a beautifully outfitted and high tech vehicle for a good deal less than a 2021 Explorer.

we have been a Ford family for years, as my wife's brother worked for them so we could get the A plan price. We recurrently leasing a Lincoln MKC, and since my wife is retiring, we decided to buy the next one. I went to the Ford site to build an Explorer because we wanted a larger vehicle to travel in, and what an eye opener that was. If I remember right, the top of the line AWD was around $60K plus, and even after the A plan price, we were above $55K. Then another BIL said something about the Telly, so we started researching it, and WOW, we fell in love. My good friend is the new car manager at our Ford dealer, he is not going to be happy, LOL. Just waiting for it to arrive, probably after the new year.

Good story. I do understand they are hard to come by. I think I have my eyes set on a 2021 AWD SX NightFall Edition with Prestige Trim and Tow package/hitch/harness and some other interior extras. From what I read the Non Nightfall ones are scarcer? That sound right?

Ford had a hit with the 4th generation explorer designed by Range Rover (while ford owned them). What they should’ve done is come up with exactly what Kia did in the Telluride, instead they attempted to target Highlander and completely get away from the rugged look of the 4th gen. Also they got greedy with sub par interior and tried to take price. I bet many explorer owners like me are after a Telluride. Ford massively messed up the new explorer. I could get one for invoice plus hold back but still have zero interest.

Yes - KIA used to produce a relatively large number of SX Prestige trims. As you can see by the chart I put together below - SX Prestige (SXP) production has dropped off dramatically after the ramp up of the Nightfall Edition Prestige (NFP) was introduced this summer. I have an SXP on order and hope to take delivery next month.
