• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Map Update v16.0 Arriving May 5th

I tried the update a week ago and have had nothing but problems since. Nothing with voice works. No map directions. Won't read my texts. Voice prompt doesn't work. Nothing. Took it to kia and they didn't fix a thing. Just told me its a UVO thing and for me to contact UVO. Its their freaking car. I pay them every month, not UVO. The buck stops with them.

Anybody else try the software update?
I am assuming that’s why it was pulled from Kia’s site. Hopefully others that have done the update can share their experience. I personally haven’t done it yet.

Yep, it’s back!

Looks like the SW version and Nav App version both incremented from 220419 (several weeks ago) to 220504 (last Wednesday). The Firmware and Map versions were totally unchanged. Who knows if there were any actual changes to anything other than some version numbers.

I hadn’t noticed any show-stopping bugs with my original version from a few weeks ago. There were a couple oddities, but they’re both still there in the “new’ version (yes, I installed it just to see). I had noticed that the installation reset my Kia App notification preferences somehow (both on 4/28 and again this morning, I got a notification that I left a door unlocked, even though I had previously turned off that alert). The newly improved voice recognition also isn’t perfect… a few weeks ago, the first place I oould think of to try to ask the system for was “Five Guys.” It said it could find nothing (oddly, considering I’d asked the system this as a test many times in the past few years). I tried it again with the “new” version this morning… same thing. Although if I ask by its full name “Five Guys Burgers and Fries,” I get a bunch of results. Weird. But again, same with both before and after the downtime.

Anyway, if you didn’t download during the first five days and missed it, now you can get it. If you did download and install successfully already, it’s probably not worth your time to reinstall, unless you have nothing else to do.

Thanks for the update.

Did the newest update go faster? I did the one a couple weeks ago and it took well over an hour.

Normally I would just automatically put on the new version, but the long update time has me wondering if it's worth it.

This one was about 70 minutes for me (a few weeks ago it was about 75 minutes). Usually in the past, they’ve been more like 45 minutes or less. This version is definitely the slowest quick update I’ve done.

There is always the “update after vehicle is turned off” option if you don’t want to sit and babysit it, you can just let it do its thing. I haven’t tried that one yet because usually I just want to get it done right away. But it seems like they’re pushing that option going forward.

Installing the update now. It took about 16 minutes for it to "prepare" the update before it actually started running. We'll see how long in total.

I'm sure someone has asked this already. Can I update with old nav software, the one that allowed 3way split screen?

This may be an obvious question but did Kia email about the update? I've had a lot of issues with voice command not working and my phone not connecting/downloading contacts and am hopeful maybe this update will help with that. (?!?)

I found the update online--I'm working on downloading it to my computer and then saving it to a flash drive but am getting mentally hung up on the screen that says "formatting will delete all data on the portable device 'd'". I'm assuming this means I should make sure my USB is completely empty/nothing on it prior to downloading? I don't know why this feels so confusing to me this morning!

The updater software with format your flash drive for you, so you just need to make sure there aren't files on the drive that you want to keep.

You don’t need to transfer the files to the thumb drive using the updater software. You can have the file explorer open in Windows/Mac and simply drag and drop to the file explorer of your thumb drive. As long as all individual update files are in the root/main directory of the thumb drive, not in any folders. Also, your thumb drive needs to be exFAT32 format, not NTFS.

Considering I don't use the radio at all (tubes) and I always use carplay, is there any reason to update?

New versions will typically include stability enhancements and bug fixes in addition to map and feature updates.

I get the warning to turn on the ignition so the battery doesn't run out in about 4-5 minutes of having the radio on. Is that normal and just overly conservative, or do I maybe have a bad battery?
Normally I would get that warning, but it never showed up during the update. I did have the car running until the update started. I then turned it off and set it to Accessory.

Can I begin the update and start driving? I'm still in the break-in period and need to put miles on the vehicle.

Thank you VERY MUCH! I was considering doing it again, but now I won't. BTW, if you've found a way to have the radio displayed every time the car is started instead of the Home screen, please let me know.

I drag and drop all the files (16 in my case) inside the "2022_Telluride_USA" folder to the USB drive--don't just drag the folder, correct?
