• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have a 2021 Kia Telluride and updated my Gen5W Navigation Software with the October 2022 Navigation Map and Software Update back in October. Everything was working fine until about a week ago and now the "Radio" button on my system does not work and I have no way of seeing the screen that used to show me my XM, FM, and AM interface. On the home page it constantly says "Preparing Sirius XM Radio" but never gets past that point. I have refreshed my XM signal, re-installed the software update, and completed a hard reset of the system, but none of these steps have solved the problem. I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if anyone knows what may be causing this to happen? Thank you!

There should still be the app icon screen you can get to from the home screen. Swipe left and you should see an icon that says radio.

Another way to get to radio is using the Mode button on the steering wheel. If it isn’t already set up to toggle through AM/FM/XM sources, you can press and hold the Mode button to do so.

I’m having the same issue. None of the normal options to get to radio work. Did you solve this?

The same thing just happened to me this week, any fix?

I have the same issue, did you find a fix?

I have a ‘22 Telluride with the October update installed and experienced this issue for the first time today. I called Kia Phone Support and they suggested restarting the infotainment screen using the small button next to the volume control knob. Still having the issue even after the restart. They wouldn’t share how many other reports they’ve received for this issue and said to take it to a dealership for diagnostics… When I called my dealership, they indicated they were aware of others facing the same issue. Seems like a software glitch to me.

I took my car in on 1/27 (Berwyn Kia in Illinois). They say they’ve never seen it before and had to enter a ticket with Kia corporate. They let me take the car until they get direction from Kia, and I’ve not heard anything yet. I just left a message trying to get an update. I will update when it is resolved.

I just got this email from Mapnsoft

Hello David,

This is a known issue that is being worked on by the vehicle manufacturer as part of their software. The update has been pulled from circulation, both by download and physical copy. We expect a new release of the software with the fix included to be made available after 2/17 at this time. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back with us at that time for more information.

I checked the Kia Updater app this morning, and found a newer version of the October 2022 update than I had installed. Looking at the version number, it looks like this one may have been cut February 3rd. After installing this version, I'm able to use the radio. A minor note, it deleted all favorites(FM,AM,XM) assigned to my user profile.

Latest Version Available: ON22.USA.S5W_M.V009.001.230203

Version I had Installed: ON22.USA.55W_M.V009.001.221011

Update: I received a confirmation from Kia Support that this update did in fact contain the fix for the radio issue.

From Kia Support - "We have been told this update should resolve the issue by the manufacturers software development team. Please try updating the vehicle with the new software and let us know if it resolves the issue. Thank you for your patience in this matter."

Thank you! That worked for me too, but it’s disappointing that I never heard from Kia after taking my car in and had to rely on this forum to get a fix.

I updated last fall! It’s working great! Considering some instability of updates, is it worth updating?

I did the update in the fall right when it came out too. It worked fine for a few months, but then the radio stopped working as described above. The newest version of the update that came out in the last week or so fixed it (for now anyway). If this one stays stable and keeps working, I’ll either not be doing updates in the future or waiting a lot longer for Kia to work out the bugs.

The October update is the most current. The only reason to update again with the re-released version of the same update is if you are experiencing any of the known issues (missing radio function is the most common).

Otherwise, if you’re doing well, you can wait for the next new version, probably in April.

Nice! I’ll do it then in April! I’ll be able to use the drive that Kia sent me when I paid for my first update. I also heard that some drives were incompatible which led to update issues! I paid $45 incl shipping (I think) just to have peace of mind during that initial update. I wonder if there are issues for those who skipped an update or two and then updated one or two versions later? Thanks!

A missed update here or there doesn’t matter.

The biggest deal is if you’re way behind. There was a major update in fall 2020 that changed certain aspects of the UI. Anyone updating from a version before that first has to update to that version, then it immediately continues on to the current version. Some don’t realize this, and stop the update prematurely, thinking it’s done. That is one of the biggest problems I’ve seen reported, and it wouldn’t happen if people kept up to date.

“Some don’t realize this, and stop the update prematurely, thinking it’s done”—this! Thanks for pointing this out!

Updating to the re-release of the software update worked for me! Thank you so much for pointing out that there was a second release. I would have never noticed based on just the October 2022 name!
