If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I am getting ready to head to the dealer to purchase a SX P/T/N Wolf Gray. I saw a local dealer just had 2 VINs allocated to them. I called to see if they were ordered and one is available with a delivery date next month. I am a little hesitant about purchasing before it is delivered. Should I be?

Wow, that's a rare find. You shouldn't be doing final paperwork until it arrives, at least that's the way I understand it, are you meaning that you are making a deposit for it? Deposits are common.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. What might the Telluride be replacing for you?

Thank you! I just traded in my Buick Enclave when we purchased my husband’s Silverado a couple weeks ago. I didn’t want to put any money into it to renew my plates that were due when I knew I was going to get a Telluride. This will be our first Kia.

Well the dealer said since there is a VIN I can buy it. Now I’m not sure how the whole process will go. I don’t think I can actually sign all the papers without a title. We will see in a couple hours what the deal is.

Be prepared to be surprised about the price. Likely a large markup. Some dealers will want you to buy it outright with a VIN, but I wouldn't do that. I would ask them to take a refundable deposit on the vehicle pending a test drive only after you have negotiated the sales price of the vehicle. Good luck.

Agree with @jw_tx21 Hope you’ve discussed pricing and if so, get it in writing before committing to anything.

It’s official I purchased! I did ask before going in about markup and they were up front about their add on of a maintenance package of $1,395. Includes a few things like all season mats, 1 yr maintenance, ding repair, key replacement, and other useless things to rack up the price . I am at least getting something from the markup and getting the Telluride I really want! Now I have to wait for a delivery date of 10/15. Better than the one I ordered in July but wasn’t getting until the middle of November.

Do you happen to be buying through Napleton MId Rivers in St. Louis? I am hesitant to pull the trigger with them because they seem a bit shady talking badly about other dealerships and such, but I haven't been into the dealership in-person yet. Let me know your thoughts and who your salesperson is if this is indeed Napleton Mid Rivers.

@mpanneri Yes, it was Napleton. They didn’t say anything bad about other dealers but they are very proud of their ordering and how they know how to do it right. Everyone was very nice but also I went in knowing what I wanted and I don’t let sales people talk me into anything. I was getting a little irritated with how long it took to wait for the finance person. Only because I had my husband with me and he was wanting to go meet up with friends. I did go line by line on my sales agreement. I knew I wanted to add the gap and 10y /100k mile protection plan. They don’t go over the actual price just what your payment will be if you choose. After I read over everything I got the protection plan price reduced.
They are not the closest Napleton’s to me so I probably won’t be going there for anything anymore. I will get my included car washes, oil changes, and such done at another Napleton’s. They will be delivering my Telluride to my house when it arrives. I worked with Ashley, she was very sweet. She also owns a Telluride. It’s actually her 3rd one. I would recommend her. I hope this helps. Definitely do your research and know what you want. If you order they brag about how they get them in fast. If you go with one off the lot know they will require their warranty plan. Good luck getting what you want!

I also bought through Napleton. Decent experience.

it’s funny because I’m sitting here right now. I came in to pick up my title paperwork and mats. As I pulled on to service road, my tire low pressure alert came on, so now I’m waiting for them to fix a bad tire valve stem.

anyway, I thought they were good guys. Also, if you opt to do the extended warranty, you can negotiate it down.

the cheapest price for the extended warranty is thru Muncie Kia, they sell them all over the country, it would be wise to compare the prices!!

Thanks for the information. I put a deposit down with them today on an SX that should be incoming at the beginning of November. I have always owned Hondas and never bought an extended warranty at all since my experience has been that I've never needed one. What is the cost and what does it add on a Kia. I wasn't even considering it, but maybe I should.

Honestly, you probably don’t need one. If you can get out of the finance office without it, some may consider it a win.

I think it basically gives you a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty. They started at maybe $2400 (he’ll try and tell you the per month cost, but ask for the full value), and they ended up coming down closer to $1600, I think.

Anyway, I would not feel compelled to buy one if you don’t normally.

Good luck! I worked mostly with Ben, the sales manager and then Ian. What color are you getting?

Awesome! Thanks for the information. Ben, the sales manager, is who I am working with. I am getting a White SX-P with tow. How about you?

I got the Everlasting Silver. SX, no P, only because there weren’t any unclaimed prestige when I started this process in May.

Five days in and I love it.

Congrats on starting the process. What color did you choose?
